Saint of the Week

St Karas

He was the brother of Emperor Theodosius the Great. This saint knew well the vanity of the world and its temporal nature. He left all his possessions and went out wandering without a destination. God guided him to the inner Western Wilderness, where he lived for many years alone, without seeing man or beast.

There was in the wilderness of Shiheet (Scete) a holy priest called Bamwa (Pimwah) who shrouded the body of St. Hilaria. This father longed to see one of the servants of Christ, the hermits. The Lord helped him until he came to the inner wilderness, and he saw many of the saints.

Persecution takes many forms – from oppression and discrimination to denial of constitutional and internationally acknowledged freedoms.
Christians in the Middle East and North Africa region have long been discriminated against, marginalized, detained, imprisoned, tortured and even killed for their faith in Jesus Christ.

Ms. Vicki Salkin - Advocacy & Development Manager of Middle East Concern-  discussed with Fr. Abram the goals for Middle East Concern Organization and raising concern for Christians and churches in the Middle East and North Africa

SIGN THE PETITION

His Eminence Archbishop Stylianos has called all to action in an urgent Encyclical on the proposed legislation for same sex marriage.
He states that ‘we are obliged, once again, to express in the strongest possible terms, our objection to the enactment of such legislation.’
If marriage is redefined:
It will impact on our freedom of religion: to teach that marriage is between one man and one woman.
It means that our schools are going to have to teach and affirm this to our children.
It will send the message that it is acceptable for children to be raised without the presence of a mother or a father.
If we do not act immediately, such legislation will change the definition of marriage.
We ask you to begin your opposition by signing the petition.

 NEWSLETTER to CDP SUPPORTERS

SSM & Children rights

Dear CDP supporter,
In the last few months, Australia has witnessed an unprecedented push by the homosexual lobby to legalise same sex "marriage" (SSM).  Recent events in Ireland and in the USA have contributed to the momentum.   It is evident that the homosexual agenda will forcefully continue, in spite of the many times it has been defeated previously in Federal Parliament.
Most importantly, for the sake of our nation's children, we must ensure that the legal right to have a Mum and a Dad wherever possible is maintained and this is not deliberately changed by re-defining a family.

Soon after the end of the month of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, another Christian church in Egypt came under attack.

Christians being kidnapped by IS in Syria

Greetings in the name of the Triune God.
Twelve months ago Christians in Mosul – Iraq were uprooted by the Islamic state and this week we see more Christians being kidnapped by IS in Syria with hundreds of families fleeing their homes carrying only the clothes they were wearing and their crosses.
What did they do to deserve this?
When will the western leaders start valuing these innocent people and give them more attention than a barrel of oil.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”  Joshua 1:9
Let us ask God to help those in need and spread His peace in this world.

Reclaim Rally & Thoughts

  "By Mohamed Morsi "Nickname

There were conservative rallies throughout Australia on a certain Saturday
and Sunday this July (18/7 and 19/
7).The one I attended was a moving experience, but seeing how they were reported were not.

It was in fact a chilling experience to watch the news about them on TV on Sunday and Monday night (19/7 and 20/7). Chilling because it showed to be false that most basic of all our beliefs, which is that we are a democracy and that the voice of our citizens shall always be heard

Launching of Scrabble Coptic Church Club

The club started on the 17th July 2015 after Dr. Jamal Stephanian proposed to Fr. Abram that a Scrabble Club would be a great way for the Coptic believers and especially the Youngsters to improve their English language skills by creating words and interacting with other students in a brotherly-friendly environment. All the players of Scrabble Game will gain new approach and experience in English language and also in knowing more each other and gaining more Christian love approach toward each other, whether individually or collectively; especially family wise.

Master the language that could make buying your first home a little bit easier.
Starting out on the home buying journey can be daunting. There’s lots of information out there, as well as tools that can help you find your way. However, when you are new to something such as the property market, it can take a while to learn the ‘language’.
To make the informed decisions, you need to understand the conversations. That’s why we’ve put together this quick guide to some of the common jargon you might hear but may not be familiar with, and what it means in plain English.

Affordability
It’s important to understand all the costs involved in buying a home, compared to how much you earn, to work out what you can realistically borrow and repay. Tools are available to help you work out how much you can borrow, how much repayments will factor into your budget and what the total cost of purchase will be, including stamp duty, legal costs and so on.

Conveyancing
Conveyancing is the legal transfer of property from one person to another. Usually this would be done by a solicitor or a licensed conveyancer.
