The Emerging 100 of Atlanta welcome students back to school at BEST Academy

Atlanta, GA – Students at BEST Academy headed back to the classroom on Wednesday, August 5th. BEST Academy is a single gender (all male) school within the Atlanta Public School System. Each year, the members of the Emerging 100 of Atlanta greet BEST's students as they arrive for the first day of school and, on the first Friday of the school year, they visit BEST again to connect with their new mentees and lay the foundation for their year long mentorship program. In addition to greeting the students as they arrived to campus, the Emerging 100 invited some students to co-host a radio segment with  DJ Greg Street at V-103 later that evening.

The President of the Emerging 100 of Atlanta, Tony C. Jones, had this to say about the first day of classes at BEST:

"It was very important for us to be a force and a presence in these young mens' lives at the very start of their school year. We were there, bright and early, as they exited their buses on their first day of classes and we surprised them by inviting six students to host the Top 8 at 8 with DJ Greg Street on V-103 later that day. We want the students at BEST Academy to feel supported from day one and we want them to be excited about this upcoming school year. I am humbled by the support the community has given us with regard to our work with these amazing young men."

The Emerging 100 of Atlanta returned to BEST Academy on Friday, August 7th, to kick off their year long mentorship program with the senior class at BEST Academy. The seniors were broken up into smaller groups to discuss short term and long term goals and their interests, in addition to formulating a plan to achieve those goals.
