Applying a degree that doesn't seem applicable

WHAT’RE YOU GOING TO DO WITH THAT?

LSA grad Meghan Liroff (A.B. ’09) always knew she wanted to grow up to be a doctor. So she did exactly what you might expect: she majored in women’s studies. (And speaking of choosing the “right” major—did you?)

North Campus turkey is captured

THE FUGITIVE HAS BEEN CAPTURED

Hopefully by now you’ve heard of the infamous North Campus turkey, because his aggressive (and hilarious) antics were probably the best thing to pop up on my Twitter feed...ever. PSA for all those wondering the fate of the bird who had students and faculty “trapped and unable to move” last week: he has been taken into custody. #butwhy #mixedemotions #turkeyswillbeturkeys #youdoyou

ACCORDING TO SCIENCE

Your perception is not your reality...or something. A recent study shows that your prof pic may not be the most accurate representation of your facial features (sounds about right) because you don’t actually know what you look like. Also of note: U-M research on brain disorders that’s way over my head, but exciting nonetheless. Yeah Science!

THE PROBLEM WE ALL LIVE WITH

Why our education system needs more integration

A poignant story about the thing that might actually save our education system, but that no one wants to talk about.

LSA STUDENT WINS A2 CITY COUNCIL PRIMARY

Zachary Ackerman, a political science major set to graduate this December, defeated the incumbent by only 40 votes. Students have run for city council before, but none were successful until now. Not a bad early graduation present! Learn more about Ackerman in his interview with the Daily earlier this year.
