Our Plan: Our Future

A Neighbourhood Plan for Boughton Aluph, Eastwell & Goat Lees

Issue 2, August 2015

Welcome

Thank you for signing up for our Neighbourhood Plan newsletter.
We are a small group of volunteers working with the Parish Council on a Neighbourhood Plan for Boughton Aluph, Eastwell and Goat Lees. Over the life of the project, we will send you regular newsletters updating you on our progress and inviting your participation in various events and surveys as well as commenting on the draft Plan. Together, we will shape the future of our community.

Parish Housing Needs Survey findings published

In March, Action with Communities in Rural Kent, in partnership with Boughton Aluph and Eastwell Parish Council and Ashford Borough Council, carried out a housing needs survey within our parish. You may remember completing the survey questionnaire. The aim of the survey was to identify if there is a housing need from local people, specifically the need for affordable housing and the housing needs of older people.
The final report, based on responses received, identifies a need for up to 13 affordable homes in the parish.

The Parish Council commissioned the survey in order to inform the Neighbourhood Plan process. Visit our website to download a copy of the report.

Have your say

Consultation is the key to a successful Neighbourhood Plan. Your input and support is essential. Please spare us an hour of your time and come along to one of our community consultation events in September. The dates for your diary are:
Thursday 17 September, 7.00pm to 9.00pm at Goat Lees Primary School
Friday 18 September, 7.00pm to 9.00pm, at Goat Lees Community Hall
Saturday 19 September, 11.00am to 2.00pm at the Iron Room, Boughton Aluph
Sunday 27 September, 11.00am to 4.00pm at Sandyacres, Sandyhurst Lane
These drop-in events will enable us to find out what you think should be covered in our Neighbourhood Plan. Everyone is welcome so please help us to spread the word and call in at a time to suit you. This is an important opportunity to make your voice heard.

Your feedback

You can also give us your views on the developing Neighbourhood Plan on our website, www.parishplan.uk. To date, traffic is emerging as the number one concern for local people. Issues raised range from traffic speeding in residential areas to the potential impact of a new Thames crossing east of Dartford.
Please take a moment to read the comments on our website and to add your own.

Over time, we hope our website will host a lively public debate on the future development of our community so please make your views known on this or any other subject.
