COUGAR  COLUMN

GENERAL NEWS

WELCOME!  This new Cougar Column replaces the Intercom and will be emailed to SCS families every Tuesday.  Besides our school website, this is one of our main communications between us and you!  Please be sure to read it.

Comments, Questions, Concerns? Join our head of school, Dan Makowski, for coffee Wednesdays at City Brew on Hwy 93 South by Frugals from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. starting September 16th.

School Office Hours:  7:45 am to 3:30 pm.

REQUIRED SCHOOL FORMS BY SEPTEMBER 11:  Take the time to print and fill these forms out prior to school starting!  These are forms that are required every year.   Feel free to bring them
Medical Emergency Form (Grades PK-12)
Transportation Form (Grades 9-12)
Acceptable Computer Use Policy (Grades K-12).

New Family Luncheon:  New families are invited to a luncheon on Tuesday, September 8th at 12:00 pm at the school, followed by the open house.

Open House:  Tuesday, September 8th from 1-3 pm.  This is a great time to  bring in your school supplies, see your classroom and meet your teacher before school begins!

School Start Times:  First Day, September 10th - 8:05 am for Middle School and High School Students and 8:10 am for PK-5th grade.

Immunizations/Religious Exemptions:  If you still need to get us copies of immunizations, please be sure to do so as soon as possible.  If you claim Religious Exemption, please complete the new form and have it signed in front of a notary prior to school starting.  The Religious Exempt form can be found  on our school website under the Student Life tab, and then forms, or by clicking this link.

Lunch Accounts: We want to remind everyone that our lunch program is a PREPAID program.  Our system automatically contacts you on Thursdays if the balance is in the negative.  If you receive such a call, please bring your account current immediately.  You may send in a check with your child or stop in either office to put money down on the account.  You may also access Infinite Campus if you have a password and want to pay by credit card (there is a $5 fee for this).  Feel free to stop in to either office during the open house and put money in your child's lunch account to save you time on the first day of school.  Also, you have access to check your child's account on Infinite Campus any time.  You must have a username and password.  If you do not have one, please see Jill Curtis in the high school office.

Lunch Account Prices:  Preschool lunch is $2, grades K-5 lunch is $3, and grades 6-12 is $3.50.  Milk or juice is included in the lunch price already; however, it is available for $.45 for those students who bring a lunch from home.  Avoid the rush on the first day of school and see either office to put money down on your child's account!

SCHOOL CALENDAR (2015/2016): The calendar is available online  or in either office.

Infinite Campus Parent Portal:  Every family can obtain a log in to access Infinite Campus.  New families will be receiving information in the mail on how to access it.  For middle school and high school parents this is a fantastic way to check grades and assignments concerning your child, as well as lunch account balances.  For elementary, it is a great way to be able to see your child's lunch account balance.  Please see Jill Curtis in the high school office if you do not remember your username or password.

After-School Program:  Starts September 10th.  This program is for enrolled SCS students only.  If you want your child to be on a regular schedule with the program and you have not already emailed or spoke with Mrs. Curtis in the high school office, please contact her to be added to the list.  If you need to use the program as an occasional drop-in, you must sign up by 9:00 am every time.  The cost is $7 per student for signed-up students, and it is $5 per hour per student for drop-ins.  There is a multi-student discount available.  Please contact Mrs. Curtis for more details.

Reading/Supply Lists:  Students, remember to complete your summer reading and bring in your book reports.  If you still need to get supplies, the lists can be found here.

Refrigerator/Freezer Wanted:  We are looking for a refrigerator with a top or bottom freezer in good working condition for our science storage room.  Please contact Mr. Hashley at 250-5384.
