Welcome our newest Board Member - Danielle Liebl

Danielle Liebl is Founder and Executive Director of DIFFERbilities Experience, Inc., a nonprofit organization that provides opportunities to high school and college students to promote inclusion of people with and without disabilities. Danielle is a graduate of the College of Saint Benedict, where she received a dual-degree in Theology and Peace Studies. Currently, Danielle is a J.D. candidate at the University of St. Thomas Law School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Impassioned by her personal experience growing up with Cerebral Palsy, Danielle has become an ambassador for people with intellectual disabilities. She has served on the Board of Directors for Special Olympics Minnesota and United Cerebral Palsy of Central Minnesota, spoke at several national education conferences, as well as the White House, and founded her own 501(c)3 organization. Danielle aims to reduce the stigma associated with disabilities by connecting people with and without disabilities. Through her work, she has helped build friendships and develop understanding among students of different backgrounds. Danielle has designed a powerful model of partnering students with and without disabilities in a controlled environment.

The board and staff of the National Inclusion Project are very excited to have a new member of the family. Danielle brings a new and very valued perspective to the organization. Those guests attending our Circle of Heroes Champions Gala in Raleigh will have the opportunity to meet Danielle on Saturday, Sept 26th.

GREAT NEWS! nOg Run Club in Raleigh, NC has chosen the National Inclusion Project as one of their charities for 2015. To receive proceeds from the nOg events, we just need 6 more volunteers to help them out for their upcoming Run Green 8K on Sept 19th. ALL volunteers receive an event shirt and if you sign up early you can choose from tasks like handing out medals at the finish line, race course monitors, registration table, water stations, etc...

Please check out their volunteer listing and sign-up* for a couple of hours on Saturday Sept 19th in Raleigh to cheer on other racers and to help us earn donations that will make sure that no child sits on the sidelines.

We will also be hosting their Charity night trivia on Sept 28th at Tir na Nog in Raleigh - so come out and join us! (Email Christy for more details.)

*When signing up to volunteer, please list the National Inclusion Project as your organization. NOTE: Only the volunteer spots for Saturday, the 19th count towards our 6 needed.

Through a partnership with NC State and the Non-Profit Leadership course, the Project has three student interns joining our team through December 2015.

Emily, Lizz and Nathalie will be assisting with numerous projects throughout the Fall including creating an event communications plan, working on final Champions Gala details, helping to plan the Power of Play conference and other event preparations.

We are so excited to have these extra hands and inquisitive minds throughout the Fall! Please welcome them with open arms when you see them at an event, receive an email from them or speak to them on the phone.

WELCOME to the team Emily, Lizz and Nathalie!

VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT
Blanche Jennings

Blanche's first information about the National Inclusion Project was on the sleeve of Co-Founder Clay Aiken's CD in 2011. And then, after watching Clay on Celebrity Apprentice, she fell in love with what he and Co-Founder Diane Bubel had done for the children. Her passion for children and a few friends from Clay's fan club finally convinced her to go to the 2013 Champions Gala.

"That was all it took. I've never experienced anything so touching and loving and it made my heart want more. The experience was so amazing that I started saving for the next year's Gala when I got home, I just had to be a part of this again", says Blanche.

She started following the events of the Project and made contributions when she could, but always wished she could do more. Her passion was to volunteer and help with things she truly believes in - children being on top of that list. When she heard of some of the events people were doing for the Project, she had to do something too.

"Well, I definitely do not wrap gifts well so Wrapping for Inclusion was not an option. I began to think about what it was that I do well and enjoy", Blanche remembers. "Dance! That was it!"
