Randwick Rugby "Wicks" and World Cups luncheon
Read Nick Ryan's luncheon report....
Randwick Rugby last week held its second annual scholarship lunch last Friday and on behalf of the Club we would like to thank everyone for not only their attendance but their engagement and support to make this a huge success, both financially and of course in showcasing the direction of the Club and the people who make it special. It was terrific to see 47/48 Wallaby tourist and Randwick No. 8 Arthur Buchan at the "Wicks" and World Cups luncheon last week. Whilst a player with the Galloping Greens, Arthur represented NSW 5 times and played in 7 tests. His career tally of tests was 10. He was an outstanding No 8 forward who played 38 first grade games, scoring 7 tries (21 points) in the 1944, 1945 and 1947 seasons. An honours physics graduate, he narrowly missed the award of a Rhodes Scholarship. Read more >>>...

Thanks to Ian Hartley for the report on this year's Prop's Luncheon
The Jack Cotis Memorial Lunch (Prop’s Lunch) was an outstanding success this year. We had 45 attendees when I lost count. Special mention must go to those that have come from interstate – Ray Evans and Gerry O’Neill from Melbourne and Peter Primo from the Gold Coast. Also, our regular Country members – Ken Brown (Nelson’s Bay), Paul Massey-Reid (Coffs Harbour) and Tony Purdy (Canberra). There may have been other interstate or country members who I have missed. Another guest appearance was Patrick Phibbs. I think he was sent there by his mother to make sure his father, Kevin, made it home OK!!

DAVID HORWITZ wasn’t even born the last time a Randwick player won the Ken Catchpole Medal for the Intrust Shute Shield’s best and fairest player.
The annual award for the Shute Shield’s shining light was voted for by the referees and presented earlier this month at The Rugby Club in the city.

Clovelly U16s Match Reports
Clovelly Eagles 31 ( 5 tries ) v Hills 21
Tries: Harrison Stein 2, Jack Kelly, Marco Bell, Will Harrison.
Ben Donaldson 3 goals.
Clovelly Eagles – Minor Premiers U16 A Division
The squad wants to pass on to Sue Donaldson and her band of helpers a huge 'Thank You' for organising the Blue and White streamers and balloons that decorated our Dressing Room pre-game. It is hard to impress 16 year olds sometimes, but I could see the boys get a kick out of walking through the Club’s colours as they went on to the field.

Randwick Juniors AGM - Grass Roots Champion needed Nominate now for Randwick Juniors President.
Hi Randwick Village Clubs,
As my two years as Randwick Juniors President ends in September 2015 I would like to call for early nominations to take over this vital junior rugby role in season 2016.
Historically the Juniors hold the AGM at the end of the season. The reality is, by then, all attention is firmly drawn to summer sports. This has resulted in just two nominations from one club for the last four years! The AGM is to be held on September 1st at Coogee Bowling Club 6:30pm

All at Randwick Rugby wish Richard Dargin well for a complete and speedy recovery. "Dickie" is undergoing a seven week program of radiation therapy and would be about three weeks into the program. Unfortunately he has contracted pneumonia and has had to be readmitted to the Gold Coast Hospital which is where he receives his radiation.
It is not possible for any of his friends to speak to him but his wife Ann believes that he would be pleased to receive letters or emails. Read more >>>...
