This Sunday, August 23, we are returning to our two service schedule. The first service will begin at 9 a.m., when we will also offer full Children's Ministry. The second service will begin at 11 a.m. and childcare will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!

This week, Virginia Tech opens its dorms for the return of students. There are almost 6,000 new students arriving on campus! At Northstar, we are overjoyed to be able to minister to collegians and grad students, and we take seriously the opportunity to reach, disciple, and encourage students in their faith while in Blacksburg.  Gear Up to Serve!
As our fall semester of ministry prepares to start, it's an opportunity to meet new people and ways to invest in the kingdom of God through service. There are multiple ways to get involved at Nortstar and we encourage every member and regular attender to find a place to bless others. One of our primary needs in the months of August through October is our Sunday Serve Team. These are the folks who help to prepare Blacksburg Middle School for our two worship services each week. Please, prayerfully consider giving one Sunday per month to the Sunday Serve Team.

 The Man in the Mirror
Beginning on September 11, John Gratto will be leading the men of Northstar through a discussion of the book The Man in the Mirror. John is an assistant professor of educational leadership at Virginia Tech and has a passion for helping men to be devoted followers of Christ, strong fathers, and wise, loving husbands. The study will be held at the Northstar Ministry Center on Friday mornings at 6:30 a.m. Coffee will be available beginning at 6:15 a.m. If you have any questions, feel free to contact John Gratto at 540-759-0197.

Perspectives
Perspectives is a 15 week course, beginning August 24, which brings together people from different denominations all over the New River Valley to learn more about world missions. Are you interested? Remember that the first three sessions are free!

D28 is all about making Disciples who make other disciples. If you have a desire to grow spiritually and multiply your life, D28 is for you and begins Sept. 13.

Beth Moore Simulcast

Jumpstart Changes
Beginning on Sunday, September 6, Jumpstart children will go straight to their classrooms instead of going to "big church" for worship. We've created an awesome worship team to lead our kids in a fun, age appropriate way.

The week of September 7 will begin our small groups for the fall. These groups will meet in locations across the NRV and are a great opportunity to get connected with friends who will challenge and encourage as you study God's Word.

Kids' Ministry Volunteer Training
We will have a training for all old and new children's ministry volunteers from 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 26 at the Northstar Ministry Center. If you are interested in becoming a children's ministry volunteer, come and enjoy a time of fellowship and learning with the children's ministry team.
