Condoleezza Rice keynotes inaugural
World Leaders Forum


Condoleezza Rice, the Denning Professor in Global Business and the Economy at the Stanford Graduate School of Business; the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution; and a professor of Political Science at Stanford, keynoted SCPKU's inaugural Lee Shau Kee World Leaders Forum on September 22 and said that technology and education are key drivers in achieving sustainable urban development and cited opportunities for China and other developing countries to harness this innovation and mobilize human potential. SCPKU hosts urban sustainability program

The Stanford Office of International Affairs (OIA) recently awarded a seed grant to Zephyr Frank, Stanford Associate Professor of History and Director of the Program on Urban Studies, to convene an Urban Sustainability Expo and two workshops at SCPKU starting this fall.  These efforts are in partnership with universities in China on the theme of sustainable cities.  Professor Frank hopes the OIA grant will enable the Program on Urban Studies to establish a home base at SCPKU and conduct field research in Beijing.  Read more.

 

Stanford GSB ignites innovation

The second Stanford Ignite-Beijing program kicked off on September 11 with 30 participants attending the program at SCPKU.  Offered by Stanford GSB in six global locations as well as on campus, Stanford Ignite is a certificate program designed to teach innovators how to formulate, develop and commercialize their ideas.  The Beijing program will meet for seven weekends from September 11 to November 15, 2015.   Read more.

 

Faculty Fellow analyzes genetic architecture

Hua Tang, SCPKU Faculty Fellow and Stanford Associate Professor of Genetics, led a seminar at the center on September 9 focused on genetic architecture of complex traits through trans-ethnic analysis. She talked about the overlap between the genetic architecture of complex traits and human populations, and included a case study on plasma lipid concentration.

The deadline for the next round of applications for team-based faculty, faculty and pre-doctoral fellowships and graduate seminar faculty proposals is Friday, January 15, 2016.
