WATERFIRE PROVIDENCE ANNOUNCES DETAILS OF NEXT FULL LIGHTING ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 29th

PROVIDENCE, RI - (August 21st, 2015) – WaterFire Providence, the award-winning sculpture by artist Barnaby Evans, announces the details of the next full lighting of the 2015 season, Saturday August 29th. This full lighting is possible thanks to the generous support of Textron Charitable Trust. Sunset on August 29th is at 7:26 p.m. the fires will be lit shortly after and burn until midnight.

Tango at WaterFire - Argentine Tango Returns to WaterFire Providence. Most popularly seen as stage performances with their elaborate choreographies, Argentine Tango is more often danced as an intimate improvisation involving a leader and a follower in a social atmosphere where dancers of all ages and abilities can enjoy the pleasures of this music and dance style. The performances at WaterFire Providence will be the much more accessible version, danced at social dances all over the world. Performers come from Providence Tango, Argentine Tango at the Towers, and with dancers from other locations in New England.

Every dance is unique, none of the dance is choreographed, but rather it is a fusion of the dancers, the music and the feelings in that moment. Beginning at 8:30 p.m. and running throughout the evening performances will happen spontaneously at various locations along the installation. Members of the public are encouraged to participate.
