Important Information & Updates
Community Meetings Start 09/02, to Address Changes to Regional Centers & Services, Potential Effects

Each year, Lanterman Regional Center hosts community meetings to provide our key partners – individuals with developmental disabilities, their families and our service providers – the opportunity to give us feedback on the future direction and long‐term goals of the Center.

This partnership is only successful when all parties involved have an opportunity to participate, and one avenue utilized by the Center to ensure that all persons interested in participating are able to is at our annual community meetings.

This year’s agenda will cover the following topics:

  • Budget overview for fiscal year 2015‐16
  • Legislative changes in the Budget Trailer Bill
  • Changes to the performance plan for 2016
  • Alternative Service Coordination Model
  • Achievements from the 2015 performance plan

We look forward to your attendance at one of the meetings below. If you have any questions or need more information, contact the Koch‐Young Resource Center at 213.252.5600 or kyrc@lanterman.org.

Update from Greg deGiere and More on the “Were Here to Speak for Justice” Rally and March to the Capitol on Thursday, September 3 in Sacramento

Dear Friends,

The Legislature is back in session and we continue to get very strong words of support for our insistence on a full 10% funding increase retroactive to July 1 to save our community services. Thank you sincerely to all of you who have made sure the legislators pay attention.

But strong words aren’t enough. We need strong actions. We can’t take “Sorry, we tried” for an answer.

Please come to Sacramento Thursday, September 3, to tell the Legislature and Governor Brown that we need them to act now.

Come to the beautiful, historic Crest Theater, 1013 K Street, two blocks from the Capitol, for the Lanterman Coalition’s “We’re Here to Speak for Justice” rally at 10 a.m. Be there early to be sure to get a seat.

Then we’ll march to the Capitol at 1 p.m.

Community service providers all over the state are chartering buses to bring people. If you can't get here on your own, ask your provider to join those who are providing transportation.

Watch the Lanterman Coalition site for more details to come.

Thank you for your advocacy.

Greg
