I hope this message finds you well and enjoying the end of summer as well as the beginning of fall. Rob and I have been enjoying the beautiful Colorado scenery with our weekly hikes at Red Rocks and the surrounding area. I'm looking forward to watching the foliage change out there in the coming weeks.
As you may recall, earlier this summer I curated my very first art show called Widening the Cycle for the Menstrual Health and Reproductive Justice Conference. The events were hosted at the Suffolk University Law School in downtown Boston by the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research and the Center for Women's Health and Human Rights. What began as a small nugget of an idea grew into hugely rewarding experience. Planning and executing this show was full of so many professional challenges and surprises. In the end, it was pleasure to discover that the artwork I selected perfectly complimented the intersectional themes highlighted during the research presentations and activism workshops. In fact, several attendees stopped to tell me how the visual art added a wonderful dimension to their overall conference experience. Throughout the weekend, the show was well attended by conference attendees as well as Boston locals. All and all Widening the Cycle was a great success!
In addition to curating Widening the Cycle, I also organized and moderated a special plenary session where 5 participating artists discussed the role of art in affecting social change. Thanks to Rob's videography skills, we filmed the panel discussion to share with art lovers and change agents everywhere.
