Dear <<First Name>>,

Thank you to all the partners that attended the summer partnership meeting on 6th August. Particular thanks go to Wigan Council for hosting this meeting. As ever, the sharing and exchange portion of the meeting was a particular highlight. Quite a number of topics and actions were raised throughout the meeting and some of the promised follow up actions will be shared with you in this update.

At the meeting, I couldn’t make my slides that held all the official photos from the Go ON NW IMAD awards work. I have taken the liberty of including a selection of these photos from the day in this update (scroll down to the very end of the email or click on the hyperlink below). If the pictures do not appear automatically for you, it’s worth right clicking to download the pictures (or viewing this in your browser).

Here's what's in this email:
Meeting Notes
Many thanks to Charlotte Evans and Georgina Bentley from Wigan Council for taking the notes and capturing the salient points from the meeting.

I have tried to put these notes on digitalskills.com but I clearly need to improve my own digital skills as I can't figure out how to add documents! While I am figuring this out, I have uploaded the notes to the Knowledge Hub and you can access them by following this link.
Digital Inclusion Evaluation Framework
An issue that had resonance among many of the partners at the meeting was the one about linking your digital inclusion work to outcomes. This problem with evaluating the success of your projects and programmes is an old one and partners are keen to hear how others are dealing with this.

Pamela Holstein pointed out that the Cabinet Office has recently produced a digital skills evaluation framework to help organisations measure outcomes. This evaluation framework can be found here: https://www.digitalskills.com/digital-inclusion-outcomes

Wigan Council is currently working on an evaluation framework to apply across their digital inclusion partnership. The Wigan team have very kindly offered to share this framework with any partner that wishes to see it. To access this framework please either contact Charlotte Evans directly or contact me to get you in touch with the Wigan team.
What’s the Deal with Digital Inclusion in Wigan?
Wigan Council won the Go ON NW ‘I Made a Difference’ award for Outstanding Partnership. Hearing about the work that they are doing from Alison McKenzie-Folan at the last meeting, we can understand why they justly deserved the award. Please click on the hyperlink If you would like a copy of the presentation that Wigan delivered.

Funding for WiFi in Public Libraries in England
Mary Keane, Bolton Council, kindly brought up the Arts Council funding available for libraries to enable WiFI for library users. This one-off funding programme is designed to enable all libraries in England to provide free accessible WiFi for all their users. The timings are pretty tight, so please hurry if you wish to access this funding. Deadline for funding application is 10 September 2015 and expenditure must take place before March 31st 2016. For more details about the funding programme and how to apply can be found following this link: http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/funding/apply-funding/apply-for-funding/wifi-libraries/
Go On NW I Made a Difference Award Video
If you haven’t had a chance to see the video that Go ON UK has released from the NW IMAD awards, then take five minutes to watch this. The video is really well done and is worth your time. You are welcome to share this video widely, and Go ON UK is happy for you to upload this onto your intranet and websites if you wish.
Get Online @Home Schemes
Alex from Warrington Council has a quick question about Get Online schemes:

"we signpost people to the Get Online@Home scheme as part of getting cheaper access to PCs and laptops. We've had feedback that people would rather have tablets and with the reports this week that more people access the web this way than PCs or laptops it makes sense. Does anyone know whether they offer this? Or a good scheme to signpost people too?"

If you can help at all, please contact Alex directly or respond to her question posted on the Linkedin group.
Communicating Online
We, as a partnership, are about improving digital skills and quite rightly, you’ve called for improved digital ways of communicating with each other outside of the quarterly meetings.  A number of digital channels via social media have been set up for us all to use:

Linkedin – A Linkedin group titles Go ON NW Partners has been set up for all partners to join and participate. This group gives us a forum to learn, share and exchange outside of the face-to-face meetings. I will also be posting the latest news and updates there – so if you want to be kept informed more often than these email updates, then I encourage you to join the group. You can find the link to join the group here

Twitter – We are looking into the possibility of having a GO ON NW twitter handle, as suggested at the last meeting. In the meantime, we have agreed to use the following hashtag: #GoOnNW for any tweets related to our regional campaign. This will help us to find tweets referring to our work.
Next meetings
Barclays have very kindly offered to host the next partnership meeting. The Autumn meeting is on 5th November in their central Manchester office. For more details and to book yourself a place at the meeting, please follow this link: https://go-on-nw-autumn2015.eventbrite.co.uk

We have now (almost) finalised venues and dates for our quarterly meetings for the next year! Please do pencil these dates into your diary:
Autumn – 5th November 2015 (hosted by Barclays in Manchester).
Winter – TBC February 2016 (hosted by Halifax in Manchester)
Spring – 12 May 2016 (hosted by Halton Council in Widnes)
Summer – TBC July/August (hosted by Liverpool)

Keep scrolling down if you want to see a selection of photos from the IMAD Awards ceremony. The photos are courtesy of Go ON UK.

Thank you for reading to the very end of this rather long update. You won’t hear from me now before the Autumn update unless, of course, you find me on the Linkedin group.

Kind regards,
Shelley Heckman
