2015-2016 theme verse:

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.  -  Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

SWU awarded $1.1 million grant

SWU will receive $1.1 million in federal funding over five years that will benefit the most needy groups of students, providing them with resources that will help them to realize their dream of a college degree. The TRIO Student Support Services grant will provide the university with $220,000 per year for the next five years to serve 140 students each year who are first-generation college students, students with disabilities and students from low-income families. Read more>>

Mitchell Board Room to become Mitchell Center for Student Support Services
With the launching of the new five-year $1.1 million grant to support student retention and success, the only location large enough and near other necessary support services is the Mitchell Conference Room. In September this space will be outfitted to be the new home for the grant staff and service area for the 140 eligible participants. The good news is a new large conference room is being built in the Nicholson Mitchell Christian Ministry Center to replace the frequently used Mitchell space in the Campus Life Center... so we will not have a net loss of important meeting space! We thank the Lord for the blessing of this new grant and the opportunity to provide for our students!

Walmart Approves Another Grant for SWU Flag Plaza

Walmart announced today another small grant approval for the support of the Sheriff National Guard Memorial Flag Plaza at SWU in response to a grant application submitted only a short time ago!
“The backing we have received from our friends at Walmart for this flag plaza continues to enhance our partnership in the community and further the goals of both organizations in remarkable ways!” said Todd Voss, SWU President
Between Walmart and Sam’s Club, SWU has benefited from volunteers helping with landscaping and campus cleanup to offering financial support and actual gifts of flags and materials for the Central campus. These are examples of a new spirit of generosity and collaboration that will continue to grow and expand as our outreach to the community expands. Thank you to our Central Walmart friends!

Congratulations!
