Alexandria Area Community Foundation Announces "Difference Maker" Grant Recipients

Alexandria, Minn. – The Alexandria Area Community Foundation announced the recipients of the 2015 Difference Maker Grants on Monday August 24th, 2015. The Runestone Museum Foundation will be granted $10,000 and the Alexandria Senior Center will be granted $20,000.
The Runestone Museum Foundation has been granted a $10,000 matching grant to help with the restoration of Big Ole, the “icon” of the Alexandria and Douglas County. The project will include fully repainting the statue. The Alexandria Senior Center has been granted $20,000 to expand the nutrition services program to accommodate the increasing number of aging and vulnerable residents in Douglas County. The project will include finishing the kitchen upgrades for energy efficiency, food storage, air quality improvements and add additional service routes with volunteer drivers.
The Alexandria Area Community Foundation seeks to make significant grants that will be the “Difference Maker” in bringing about lasting, positive change in the Alexandria area community. AACF is looking to provide leadership, financial support and make connections that go beyond the grant in order to advance the project or initiative.
Alexandria Area Community Foundation (AACF) in affiliation with CommunityGiving, is a public charity that attracts and administers charitable funds for the benefit of the local community. Since 1992, AACF has grown to over $1.4 million in assets and awarded over $522,000 in grants to local nonprofits.
