You will notice some very minor format changes to the e-PhoCuS.

To help you identify those news items that may be of relevance to you/your child, I have endeavoured to highlight the area of the school that the article relates to. Please see below.

Whole School: Sibling Enrolment Reminder

ENROL NOW!!!

We are still receiving sibling enrolment applications for 2016 and beyond. Please remember that although PCS endeavours to accommodate existing families with sibling enrolments, positions are initially offered as per the date of when applications are received. Siblings do, however, take precedence on waiting lists. For more information click here.

is the date of our Shopping Trip.

More information will be provided next week, but please note there will be only one bus going this year.

Preschool to Year 6: Father's Day Stall

We are excited to announce that we will be holding two Father’s Day Stalls for Preschool and Prep School students this year! They will be held on Wednesday 2 September AND Thursday 3 September 2015.

Our traditional Father’s Day Stall for Kindergarten to Year 6 students will be held on Friday 4 September 2015.

Kindy to Year 11: Boost Community Art Project - French Knitting

Any students K-11 who would like to be involved in a community art project for the Penrith Regional Gallery, please bring along a French Knitting spool to school on Monday. (Refer to the French Knitting For Young and Old Alike website for tips; and, instructions on how to make a homemade spool.)

We will be having fun with wool in the Boost room at lunchtime. It will be exciting to see just how long the lengths of weaving will grow!

Junior School: Woolworths Earn & Learn

Please don't forget PCS is participating in the Woolworths Earn & Learn promotion.

We now have a box located outside Woolworths at Southlands where you can drop your stickers in as you leave the shop.

We look forward to seeing what freebies Junior School will qualify for this year. It's just like Christmas as we open the boxes.

Middle School: Year 6 Camp to Canberra

On Monday 3 August, Year 6 went on camp to Canberra. We learnt lots of interesting things and went to a lot of cool places.  

We visited The Royal Australian Mint where we got to make our own 2015 Anzac Commemorative Coin, and learnt lots about the history of Australia’s coins. To find out more, click here.

Middle & Senior School: Science Championships

As of today, PCS is coming first in NSW for the 251-500 students category (out of 45 schools) in the Education Perfect Science Championships.  

We are coming 21st overall globally (out of 838 schools). We have also won to date: 15 Credit Awards, 4 Bronze Awards, 2 Silver Awards and 5 Gold Awards.

Penrith Christian School have so far answered a total of 100,317 questions. Gold Award winners so far are: Sameena Sangar (Year 8 - who is presently coming first at PCS), Caitlin Risstrom (Year 8), Benjamin Morley (Year 9), Zoe Mikulandra (Year 11) and Jasmine Jahani (Year 11). The competition closes Thursday 27 August at 5.30 pm.

Middle & Senior School: Excited about Mathematics

Years 7-10 Mathematics have embarked on a real-world mathematics project this week. The classroom was abuzz with excitement as students were introduced to the situation they would be considering within their own projects. Click here to learn more!

Community: Destiny Rescue Fundraising Events 

 

Greater West BrickFest - Saturday
5 September
from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm - FUN FOR ALL THE FAMILY at Springwood Baptist Church Hall. Entry is $5 per person or $10 per family - all proceeds go to Destiny Rescue.

Ride2Rescue - Saturday 12 September from 7.30 am - M7 Bike Ride: 25 km, 40 km, 60 km or 80 km. Cost $30 for adult, $60 for families and $15 for students. Raising support for Destiny Rescue in Laos.

High Tea - Sunday 13 September from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm - cost is $35 (concession $25). Delicious afternoon tea with entertainment provided. All funds will go to support Destiny Rescue's volunteer case-worker / counsellor to girls rescued in communist Laos. RSVP 9 September.

Community: Steve Biddulph - Raising Boys

Fusion Western Sydney is holding an evening with internationally acclaimed author and parenting expert, Steve Biddulph, who will be speaking on 'Raising Boys'.

This event will be held at the Fusion Western Sydney Youth and Community Centre in St Marys on Monday 26 October, commencing at 7.30 pm. The cost is $20 per person or $15 per person concession and bookings can be made by visiting the website of Fusion Western Sydney.

Community: Choctoberfest (School Holiday Fun)

Come and join the fun these September/October school holidays with Choctoberfest 2015 - Wednesday 30 September and Thursday 1 October. For full details click here.

Community: School Holiday Options

Kids in the Park is so much fun for kids of all ages, whatever their passion. This exciting school holiday program commenced in 2004 and has continued to get bigger and better every year! Whether your children love to be creative, sporty, or are into nature, there's something to keep them entertained. 

The Penrith Regional Gallery has activities to keep every creative heart and mind occupied over the school holiday break with workshops to entertain even the busiest of hands.

Community: Student Exchange Australia & New Zealand

Student Exchange Australia New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation that is registered with all state and territory Departments of Education around Australia and with the Ministry of Education in NZ. 

In January 2016 we will be receiving exchange students from many countries. Our new arrivals will live with a host family and attend a local school for 3, 5 or 10 months. We are keen to hear from suitable families who might be interested to host a student. If you are interested and wish to find out more, telephone 1300 135 331 or visit our website.
