Week 35 - Tues, 25 August, 15
Lynette Palmen AMDear NO

It seems that women are no longer willing to slog it out on the nine-to-five treadmill - they are currently registering businesses at three times the rate of men. The latest statistics show that during the past year alone female business ownership has increased by 4%, compared with a 1.5% growth for men.

In fact home-based businesses are the fastest growing sector and women are leading the way AND capturing the attention of Governments. The first state to step up to the plate is the QLD Government - they have allocated 1 million dollars over the next 3 years. The funds will be given out via $5,000 grants for home-based business owners.

The first program of its kind in Australia the Home-Based Business Grants Program is designed to provide the support that stay-at-home parents need to make their small business a success, whilst also keeping a healthy balance between work and family. Round one of applications opened yesterday and they are limited so you need to get in quick. You will find the application process,
details and the eligibility criteria here.

If you are located outside of Queensland get busy and write to your State Premier about also championing this initiative because parents running home-based businesses are generating millions of dollars for the Australian economy.

Enjoy the week - and remember "The reason your competitors win Awards and secure Grants is because they apply".

Regards,
