Community News and Views (CN&V) is now a  fortnightly as of this month. It will be published on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. For August 2015 that is the 4th and 18th August

The deadline for posting news will remain 5 pm of the Friday prior to publication, i.e. 14 August for the next publication.
The Networker which is published on a monthly basis will be produced on the 1st Tuesday of each month, incorporated into CN&V.

Nelson Women's Refuge Quiz Night Fundraiser – 31 August

Join us for a fun evening to raise money for Nelson Women's and Children's Refuge. The Speights Ale House are kindly hosting us, and all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the Refuge to help with their important work. Make a team of 6-8 or join a team on the night. Asthma Awareness Week - 31 Aug to 6 Sept

The Nelson Asthma Society will be promoting asthma awareness week from 31st of August until the 6 of September. The society provides free information and support to anyone with a respiratory condition. Please phone 03 546 7675 or email your local asthma society on

Staying Safe Driving – 2 September

Age Concern is again offering our very popular Staying Safe Driving course. This is a two hour DVD and discussion, presented by a qualified driving instructor who goes over the current road rules, and answers all those questions who've been longing to ask. Alzheimers Nelson Quiz Night – 2 September

September is Alzheimers Awareness Month and we are kicking if off with our annual Quiz Evening at The Boathouse. Please support your local Alzheimers Society by getting together a table and joining us for an evening of fun. Phone 546 7702 for tickets and to book a table. Remember "Use It, Don't Lose It". Summer Camp USA Information Session â€“ 7 September

Summer Camps are an American tradition where children head off to a camp each year over their summer break and have a great time taking part in activities and learning new skills. Each year, IEP sends Kiwi’s aged 18 – 30 years to the USA to work as camp counsellors. We’re holding a free information session in Nelson on Monday 07 September at 6pm at the NMIT Kowhai Lounge.

Treasure Trail - The Wood – 19 September

A Treasure Trail is like a garage sale, or car boot sale where neighbours work together to set up stalls in a front garden of their neighbourhood. Preloved treasure, handmade goods and other items can be sold. This Treasure trail will run around the Wood neighbourhood on an easy walking  trail. Check out the Facebook page to see who is taking part and find the addresses. The NZCT South Island Masters Games is an extravaganza of sports and social events for those 35+ years to enjoy. Volunteer Nelson Workshop - Understanding and Working with the Media - 27 August

Jane Horder of Nelson Media will give a brief overview of the print and radio media in Nelson Tasman. She'll also run  through the basics of writing a media release that won’t go into the bin, give you some tips on developing a nose for news and some advice on setting up enticing photo opportunities.
