When's the last time you really noticed your body? When you thumped your knee on the table? When you caught a reflection of yourself in the store window and winced? When you put on your bathing suit in anticipation of a cooling swim?

And when's the last time you really noticed and appreciated your body? 

Our bodies get us from A to B, connects us to others, sends out warning signals, allows us to feel a wide range of sensations, and so much more. Though I do remember to thank my body occasionally, I also infect it with a lot of negative thoughts and fears. Disappointment with my bulging belly, frustration with my aching joints, and a deep poisonous fear of future mobility and memory loss. This kind of thinking kept me in a painful loop of limited action and self-pity.

So stuck I stayed... until I remembered to start my days with dancing. My heart pumps, my brain wakes, my senses tingle and dancing never fails to put a smile on my face. What a great way to start my day, let alone move forward out of my stuck place. Such a simple new action that has reaped more than one reward.

Everything is connected. Wherever you're stuck, try another entry point on the mind-body-spirit cycle. That one fun step has now led me to putting on my walking shoes more often than not and I've reconnected to the woods near my home. Being in touch with my senses and my body has helped me get back to the yoga mat too. It all feels so luxurious. And easy. I am in touch with my body again, with me again, in an appreciative way.

This autumn I will be putting extra emphasis on the body part of the mind-body-spirit trio in my program offerings. Like anything, closer inspection and exploration reveals insights and new information. I hope you'll decide to join me at one or more of my upcoming events; check what's on offer below.
