Following representations to the Housing Minister by ARCH Chairman, Councillor Paul Ellis, DCLG officials will be meeting with the ARCH Executive Board on Monday 14 September. The House of Commons Library has produced a briefing paper on anti-social behaviour (ASB). Although it's aimed primarily at MPs to assist in their constituency casework, it would also be of use to council staff and elected members in providing a summary of the powers to tackle ASB... Read more.

Welcome to Brighton & Hove City Council

Update: Re-lets at Formula Rent & 1% rent reduction


In our last bulletin we highlighted that some authorities who have properties which have not yet reached convergence to “Formula Rent” may face the prospect of having to reduce some property rents in April 2016 by more than 1 percent if the Welfare Reform and Work Bill is passed as drafted. 

We've received a response to our representations on this matter from the DCLG which offers some hope that this may not be the case... Read more.

We'd like to take a moment to remind you of the benefits of ARCH Exchange. The Exchange gives senior employees working in the stock retained sector a simple way to pool their knowledge and experience, and to reduce duplicated efforts.
 
Members can use the Exchange to ask for examples of how other councils have tackled a particular situation, to circulate questionnaires, and to share your committee or policy reports... Just another benefit of our membership... Read more.

Member experience: Compulsory Pay to Stay


We're currently preparing to response to the introduction of a compulsory “pay to stay” scheme for council tenants with incomes over £30,000 pa. 

Does your council currently operate a voluntary “pay to stay” scheme? If yes, we'd be interested to learn the lessons learned from that scheme to help inform our response to the government’s detailed proposals for introduction of a compulsory scheme... Read more.
