HELLO!
We're emerging after a full summer and now it's time to take action

It's been almost a month since we last sent a message, but so much has happened. We finished the summer program at ART 180 with the teens from Richmond's juvenile detention center. You will be AMAZED at the incredible projects they completed: radio PSA's, screenprinted posters and t-shirts, beautiful photography, even protest chants!

All of their work, all of their voices are being curated into the mobile gallery that will travel across the region and state. Though we've been quiet the past few weeks, it's only because we've been gathering our energy for a jam-packed fall. Check out the upcoming events in the sidebar to the left.

We hope you'll stick with us, show up, and join the voices of these courageous young men to say that the system needs to change. Prisons don't work. We need to stop incarcerating our young people.

As always email us at performingstatistics@gmail.com with your thoughts.

In solidarity,
Mark Strandquist, Trey Hartt, and the entire Performing Statistics team
Two Organizing Meetings Scheduled
Help us organize the parade and fall school tour

In July a committed group of educators, legal experts, and community activists gathered to discuss how we can organize two public events for Performing Statistics: 1) a parade from the General Assembly building to ART 180's gallery and 2) a tour of area high schools.

We heard your feedback. It's now time to do the dirty work and get all the details figured out. But we can't do it alone. We need as many of you on this list to support the work!

Join us for one of two upcoming organizing meetings:
  • Saturday, August 29 from 11am-2pm
  • Wednesday, September 2 from 6-9pm
Food will be provided at both meetings. If you want to come to both we won't stop you, but the two meetings are planned exactly the same. We are providing two dates to accommodate a variety of schedules. Both meetings will be held at ART 180's gallery, 114 W. Marshall St. (corner of Brook Rd. and Marshall St.)

Everyone is welcome, but we prefer you RSVP through this quick Google Form so we can prepare for the size of the group. Don't worry; your info is only shared with the meeting organizers. Thanks!

If you are unable to help organize, we hope you'll join us for the parade from the General Assembly. More details are forthcoming, but for now plan to gather near the General Assembly building on Broad St. for a 5:45 press conference.
