Meeting New Standards for Sustainability With Room Controllers

BC Comfort is pleased to continue offering a range of new building management technologies and services that optimise energy efficiency and comfort in buildings.

As part of the shift to better building performance, we are showcasing an innovative new range of room controllers that deliver all the advanced features and monitoring functions of modern building automation systems through a simple “thermostat-like” enclosure.

These thermostat-like controllers are designed with the sole purpose of lowering installation costs, minimising downtime, and accelerating the return on investment for building owners and facility managers.

Through a single, smart device, this solution delivers all the comfort and control functionality found in direct digital control (DDC) systems and can be easily integrated into most building management systems.

Perfect for both retrofit and new construction projects, these room controllers allow building owners to decrease project delivery costs by reducing installation, configuration, and commissioning time, while ensuring their building is always operating at peak performance.

Here are some of the new features:

Simple Functionality

No complex software or tools are required to customise functionality in order to meet your application requirements.

Brand Awareness

Reinforce your brand by displaying any logo, image, or message on the screen. When integrated into a BACnet® system, dynamic messages linked to events can be displayed on screen.

Customisable Design

Choose between five screen colours, two casings, and ten textured fascias to find the perfect combination to complement any decor.

Multi-language Support

Out-of-the-box, multi-language support including Chinese, French, Spanish, and more.

Discreet Motion Sensor

Onboard motion sensor delivers automatic energy savings based on room occupancy

Easy Installation

Wired and wireless functionality lowers installation costs, reduces downtime, and substantially accelerates return on investment for typical retrofit projects.

Available as stand-alone products, networked zoning solutions (wired or wireless), or integrated into larger building management systems, room controllers offer multiple options including motion and humidity sensors. With a scalable design, upgrades are made easy by changing communication modules, and can integrate accessories such as door and window contact sensors to further enhance any installation.

Need an Energy Audit?

The need to reduce energy costs is becoming increasingly important for building owners, and energy audits have begun to play a more significant role in managing energy expenses.

Energy audits can encompass a variety of surveying techniques but most commonly consist of an analysis of energy usage within a building or facility and its contained equipment.

BC Comfort has the necessary expertise to help you assess and manage your commercial energy conservation needs.

Here are 3 reasons to consider an energy audit:

1) Our audits are conducted by Certified Energy Managers to provide:

  • A baseline of energy consumption
  • Segregated facility(s) energy spend based on function
  • An asset catalogue
  • A strategic plan for energy cost reduction through collaboration
  • Create energy project budgets

2) Our focus is on energy and carbon footprint reduction so you can continue to focus on running your facility(s) and business in general.

3) We'll identify potential incentives and prepare funding paperwork.

Here's an example of savings

During a recent building energy project study we were tasked with finding a means to optimize a client's facilities cooling infrastructure.
Through our analysis, the audit identified an energy solution enabling 107,000 kWh or $5,885.00 per annum in electrical savings.  Through the feasibility stage of the audit, secondary savings were identified at $8,000.00 associated to maintenance cost savings.

The cumulative savings equated to a project internal rate of return (IRR) equal to 27%.  Greenhouse gas reductions correlated to a 28% reduction over the existing infrastructure.

BC Comfort Yields Further Savings with Climate Smart

As a Climate Smart certified business, we are continuing our commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.

This year, we completed our second greenhouse gas inventory with Climate Smart and recorded a 6% emission reduction from the baseline.

This included an impressive 66% reduction in natural gas use, a 13% reduction in electricity use, and a 51% reduction in emissions associated with office paper use.

The GHG emissions inventory is conducted according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, (“the GHG Protocol”).

The GHG Protocol is an internationally recognised standard published by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development.

Our list of reduction strategies include ongoing fleet replacement with more fuel-efficient vehicles, implementation of route optimization software, heating system upgrades, lighting retrofits, paperless document management, and more.

Moving forward, we are working to further reduce our emissions by continuing to focus on strategies aimed at transportation, heating, electricity, garbage, and paper consumption.
