Parsha of the Week:
Ki Tetze: Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19
Judaism of the Week: Diaspora and Zionism

The passage of this week's parsha contains an onus for the people moving into the promised land and a threat of diaspora if they do not succeed. It's a wonderful place to stop and think about the implications since it has come to pass since this was written.

High Holiday Announcement!

We are delighted to announce that Mark Singer will join us in leading services on Rosh Hashanna, along with Rabbi Chorny and members of the congregation.  Mark is an accomplished singer/actor with an extensive performance history in concert, the theater, opera, and cabaret, along with a career of writer, arts executive, actor, CFO and Wall Street investor. His father, Cantor Isadore Singer had a forty year career as a cantor.  He spent 32 of those years as Chazzan at Temple Emanuel in Passaic, New Jersey.

Gary Canant and Paul Stallman will delight us with extraordinary Shofar sounds.

More on Rabbi Chorny:
In May of 2014, Rabbi Chorny was ordained and received a Masters Degree in Talmud from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America in New York.  He holds a BS degree from Penn State and is fluent in Spanish and proficient in French and Hebrew.

Would you please call me and I will let you know what is needed both in food and time. I would appreciate some time off for my regulars who have done such a great job. Thank you Carol Berger 481-2086
