Everyone deserves dignity in life and death

5000 people are homeless in Toronto every night
30 deaths in shelters were reported in 2014— almost double the amount
of deaths from 2013
Most were men between the ages of 50 and 70 with an average age of 57.3
400 older men visit The Good Neighbours’ Club daily
12 Club members died last year

So far this year we have lost 8 members.  More often than not, we find out about these deaths from other Club members who want nothing more than for their friends to be laid to rest with respect and dignity.  In April, a 71 year-old Club member passed away in a shelter and was denied coverage for basic funeral costs.  Our social work team stepped in and with the support of a local funeral home, gave this member the proper farewell he deserved.

Family members of the deceased continue to reach out to thank us for supporting their loved ones in the last years of their lives.  They are truly grateful that a safe place like the Club exists to care for their older relatives.

Please help us so that our members do not fall through the cracks in life or in death.
Thank you for your support.
