What did you like best about the trip?

Audrey: "Being in a new place that is not as developed as at home. Things seem less ruined by people. It was cool to see all the ‘Lion King’ animals."

What was one thing that stood out to you about Kenya?

Audrey: "The social culture. Everyone was nicer. People communicated differently. I felt welcomed."

Did you like traveling with your dad?

Audrey: "Yep, I did." (Said honestly!)

What seemed interesting about the farming communities we visited?

Audrey: "Even though people had mud walls for houses, they still had a cell phone."

Did you like the food?

Audrey: "It wasn’t too different to me. Reminded me of Spanish food. I didn’t like the Indian food we ate."

Would you ever want to go back?

Audrey: "Yes."

So said Audrey about our trip to Kenya together last November. It was an experience I will enjoy remembering the rest of my life.

[mLearning Students from last November]

The purpose for the trip was to capture student feedback as they concluded our first mobile phone church leadership training course, the Institute of Christian Leadership. We recorded video interviews of the students and heard lots of very helpful things for improving the next class.

We were very pleased that 32 of the 33 original students returned to Nairobi to take the final exam. They spent two days in Nairobi for this  class instead of 15 days that students who took the in-class course spent. Collectively they scored an average A- grade, beating the comparison in-class group. Best of all, they grew spiritually. Here is what they said.

"I love Jesus more and have a deeper desire to share the love of Christ to others."

"I have been personally helped to grow in the Word. I am adequately equipped to bring about changes in church."

"I have grown in reflecting on the word of God, and knowing how to prepare and preach and study the Word."

Hertzler Prayer Requests

Pray that we would prepare well for the launch of Class 2, set for March 7. As with our first class, things are coming together well but still require lots of work; software development, new processes to create at the seminary, clear communication between all team members, etc.

Pray that we could launch another mobile phone learning project in another area of the world.

Pray that God would accomplish his work in each of the Hertzlers' hearts; Jerry, Cathy, Andrew, and Audrey. (Keep praying!)

Planning for Class 2, scheduled to launch at the beginning of March, is under way!

Thank you for your prayers and support of this work. Your sacrifice of time and resources is not lost on us. We couldn't help create new opportunities for the Church like this without you, our Ministry Partners.

Love in Christ,

Jerry & Cathy
