New Active Fiction Stories for 2015 -
now through November!
Good news! The latest installation of The Active Fiction Project, a collaboration between the Vancouver Public Space Network, local writers and Riley Park neighbourhood residents, is now available!

For those of you who've been waiting to get to read a new story in Vancouver's public spaces, your patience has paid off — we now have a full new season of Active Fiction stories for you to walk (or bike) through!

From now through November, we’ll be bringing a series of new short, fiction-based walking adventure to the streets of Vancouver.

First story of the season — now available!

A story section printed on a card is attached to a wooden pole on a street in Riley Park.Come check out our first story of the 2015 season: “As Above, So Below” by local writer Brittany Huddart — here's how to get to it:
  • Story starts outside the art shop on 28th ave, just east of Main. Look around the planter boxes for the first chapter.
  • At the end of each chapter, you’re given a choice about how the story should continue – make your choice, and head over to the location of the next chapter of your choosing.

Tips:

  • Remember which chapter you’re looking for, in case you stumble upon a different chapter on the way.
  • Take a photo or write down your choice if that helps.
  • If you don’t have a smartphone, and you’re not familiar with the area, you may want to bring a map with you. Oh, we made a handy map for you.
The installation is temporary so you only have a few weeks to catch this story before it vanishes… and is replaced with a new one ;)

What is Active Fiction?

The Active Fiction Project creates short, fictional, ‘choose your own adventure’ stories that take place in a Vancouver neighbourhood. The stories are ‘hidden’ in public spaces for readers to discover as they walk through the story.

In the past, we’ve also worked with Canadian writer & journalist Timothy Taylor and other local authors at UBC’s Faculty of Creative Writing who share our interest in public space as well as a childhood love of ‘choose your own adventure’ books.
