From the Editor
Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>

Hi folks and welcome to our 7th issue of GP! With an overwhelmingly busy October, the issue had to be delayed till November. And we missed you as much you did us. Healing is special when you talk of life-threatening diseases like cancer. But of course, many humans heal and share their survivor stories. One recently published free e-book How We Became Breast Cancer Thrivers  includes breast cancer survivor stories in 44 chapters. A must read, especially as it comes free! Enjoy our LHP news and updates below.
Happy Reading!

Golden Guide: Tips on Building Confidence in Children with AD/HD by Kerin Bellak-Adams
Educator and coach Kerin Bellak-Adams offers her golden guide to "What Every Child with AD/HD Wants to Say to Their Parent". Use this exercise with your child and see if he or she agrees with the 8 bullet points below!
AD/HD SUCCESS!
Directions: Read each item aloud. Have your child put a check ("X") next to the items that he/she can relate to.
  • “Please help me to focus.” Teach me with a ‘hands-on’ approach rather than telling me! _____
  • “I need to know what to expect next.” Please give me a chance for quiet time just to relax. If you make changes to my routine, could you please let me know a little ahead of time? I hate change! ___
  • “Wait for me.” I will get it; it just takes me a little longer. I’m still trying to figure this thing out. Please don’t rush me—I will get confused and want to quit. Can we come back to this one later? ___
  • “Please give me directions one step at a time.” Could you encourage me to tell you what I think you said? ___
  • “Please remind me to set my watch.” You know I don’t have such a great sense of time. I need short periods of time to study. Can I take breaks in between? ___
  • “Please tell me that my progress is good enough.” Do I have to be perfect? ___
  • “Please remind me of all my good points when I’m having a bad day!” ___
  • “Practice what you preach!” _____

If you are a parent, counselor, grandparent, clergy member, caregiver, or anyone else who deals with an angry and difficult child, you may well find that this book is a lifeline.” Lauri Coates for ReviewTheBook.com. • Words of a Journey: My Thoughts on Life and Living by Kaitlyn Kashman: “In her frank, introspective style, Kaitlyn takes the reader to places within her writing that one might never have considered, to ask questions that cause the reader to pause and reassess one's own answers and finally to realize that by merely reading the words written within this tome, the reader will never be the same. I highly recommend this book for anyone who has a young woman in their life who is full of life, love and an eagerness for what lies ahead. It is a wonderful jumping off place for discussions and bonding between the readers.” Susan Pettrone for ReviewTheBook.com. Read the review online
