Free piano concert with William Ögmundson
The WCA will kick off its free fall concert series with Ragtime music performed by William Ögmundson. The concert will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, September 19 at the Red Barn. Well-known throughout New England, Will grew up in North Wilmot. Flutist Nola Aldrich, also from Wilmot, will join Ögmundson on stage for “Tambourin” by Francois Joseph Gossec. “It’s a jaunty piece that I’m sure the audience will enjoy,” Nola said. [More]

Puppets by the pond
Cast of "New Voices-Ancient Words"

More than 100 people attended a magical performance of “New Voices – Ancient Words” on August 22 on the shore of Tannery Pond. The performance was the culmination of six workshops that guided participants through the art of making theater props of an animal nature. Many thanks to Caroline Fairless and Jim Sims, founders of Saving the Waters Puppet Theater, and Margaret and John Monto and all the other volunteers and participants who made this fabulous event possible. David White Memorial
Many generous people donated funds to the WCA in memory of David White, Wilmot’s former police chief. The WCA’s Board of Directors, in consultation with David’s family, has decided to establish an annual scholarship for a Wilmot student planning to pursue a career in law enforcement or firefighting. In addition and in conjunction with New London Hospital and the Lake Sunapee Region Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, the WCA will host a series of programs focusing on public health and personal safety.

Barn Sale a great success!
Many thanks to all of you who donated items to the WCA’s Barn Sale at the Red Barn on August 22. We raised more than $500 and will use the money for programs at the Red Barn this fall. Lots of volunteers ensured the event’s success. The Red Barn was one of the spots where folks could buy a map for the Townwide Yard Sale. The proceeds from the sale of maps, sold at four locations, totaled $200 and benefitted the Music on the Bandstand series. Bob Henskens at right is thrilled with his great find of soakers for his garden. [More]

Annual Fund under way
It takes more than your membership dollars to keep the WCA afloat. One of the several ways your Association raises money is through an Annual Fund. It is an important part of the WCA’s diverse fund-raising strategy and is separate from membership dues. Donors to the 2014 Annual Fund contributed about $9,000 – or an important 15 percent of the WCA’s budget in 2014. Thank you in advance for your generous support of the WCA in 2015! [More]
