ENDINGS AND BEGINNINGS

The AdamBots have had a wonderful off-season this summer and we are looking forward to the upcoming FIRST season! The AdamBots participated in the Michigan Advanced Robotics Competition (MARC) on June 19th and June 20th and competed in the Indiana Robotics Invitational from July 16th to July 18th. Additionally, the team has made an important decision regarding team organization; this year, team members will be split into OCCRA and FIRST teams to better prepare for the separate seasons. For September, the AdamBots are looking forward to our annual Arts and Apples Festival Parking Fundraiser and Kettering Kickoff.

SEASON UPDATE

The AdamBots had a great time competing at our second off-season event this summer. From July 16th to 18th, the AdamBots competed in the Indiana Robotics Invitational (IRI) in Indianapolis, Indiana. IRI is a very prestigious competition, with only 60 of the best teams invited to compete. The AdamBots played well and ended the qualification matches with a qualification average of 197 points, our highest of any competition! However, competition was tough, and the team did not proceed to the playoff matches. The AdamBots ranked 41st overall at this competition and had an amazing time competing with great FIRST teams in the nation.

Looking ahead, the AdamBots are organizing a fundraiser during the Arts and Apples Festival from September 11th to 13th. We will be manning the parking lots at the front and back of the Rochester Community Schools Administration Building as well as the parking lot of the dentist's office next door. All the money raised will go towards purchasing materials for the OCCRA robot and paying OCCRA and FIRST registration fees. In addition, the AdamBots will be competing in the Kettering Kickoff FIRST event on Sepetember 19th at Kettering University. We are looking forward to seeing what the next season brings!

ORGANIZATIONAL UPDATES

In order to better prepare ourselves for the upcoming OCCRA and FIRST seasons, the AdamBots have made a collective decision to split the OCCRA and FIRST teams. For the 2015 OCCRA season and the 2016 FIRST season, AdamBots team members will choose to be on either the FIRST or OCCRA teams, or both teams. This decision will allow team members to work on certain aspects of the upcoming FIRST season during the fall without interfering with the OCCRA build season. The AdamBots are excited to implement this change and hope to receive positive feedback about separating the teams next year!
