Latest from ReVive

Dear <<First Name>>,

Welcome to this month's newsletter!

We hope that you're all doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of the British summer! I got back to Brazil at the end of July and it's all go since then! Julia turned one on the 27th and Sofia started pre-school at the beginning of August. She goes every afternoon for a few hours and is enjoying it. Unfortunately her school is about a 20 minute drive away which sometimes is a lot more with the famous Recife traffic!

We're very fortunate to have a great team at ReVive who are more than capable to handle the day to day tasks without us having to look over the shoulder the whole time! This has allowed us to start to focus our energy into some other things such as the MA course, setting up ReVive in the USA and, potentially, preparing for ReVive's second house! We're still in ReVive everyday though.

We've just launched a little fundraising campaign for a 'run-about' car for ReVive. We need £2000. Click here for more info or read on for more below!

Our new website is now live! Do check it out - revive-international.org

We launched a new video for ReVive a few months ago - it's only 2.5 mins long and gives a brief overview of what we do here in Brazil. Do please share it with your friends, link to it on facebook/twitter etc... It's also short enough to be hopefully used in church services / small groups etc... so please do so.

If you've been impacted by what you've heard during our visits then perhaps you'd like to consider setting up a regular gift to the work of ReVive (£5 or £10 per month makes a huge difference!). ReVive needs around £6,000 per month and we currently receive half of that amount through regular giving - we'd love to increase this. If that's something you'd like to do then please do fill out this form by clicking here

Do read on for the latest from Brazil.

With love,

We took some of the ReVive team away this month for a little retreat at the beach.

Brazil...

Things are going well at ReVive. Two of the girls have gone on to new families which is good news. A new judge has arrived in town, I went to visit him at the courts and was well received. He insisted on speaking only in English (!) and seemed to be a very nice, humble guy. He was very interested in ReVive and told me that he'd only heard good things about us. Do pray that we might have a good relationship with him.

The girls are returning to school after their 'winter' holidays and we're currently sorting out what other education programs ReVive can offer them. The younger ones will take part in a government project which gives them a bit of pocket money at the end of the month and teaches them some basic IT skills. For the older ones we're currently finalising some partnerships with local professional colleges so that they can study for some professional qualifications. The cost of these courses will be covered by ReVive with the help of the girl's sponsors (if they have one!).

ReVive USA is progressing nicely... we're just waiting for the IRS registration to come through so we can gain tax exempt status.

ReVive UK's financial year came to an end at the end of June. We're currently going through the auditing process before we submit our reports to the charity commission. As soon as they're ready we'll let you all have a copy.

REVIVE CAR CAMPAIGN

As ReVive receives more girls and more return to their families, the demands for transport have increased. The girls study in four different schools around the town, our team need to visit the girl's families and attend hearings and meetings at the courts and other places around town. A small 'run-about' car will greatly help. We're currently about £2,000 off to cover the car and it's running costs (insurance etc...). Would you be able to help us raise £2k? We've got our eyes on a nice little VW 'Gol' 1.0. You can give online by clicking here or by getting in touch with us! Thanks very much.

Brazilian Fashion Designer Supports ReVive

Brazilian fashion designer, Cyntya Verçosa, has started supporting ReVive. She designs wedding dresses and has started a monthly bike ride for her friends and clients - it's proved to be very popular with each person donating a kilogram of food to ReVive!
All of the food raised from the first event! The second event happened this past weekend so we're expecting another delivery soon! Great news.
We've finally finished our IT Room at ReVive... making use of the space underneath the stairs! We were fortunate to receive a donation of some refurbished computers from a Brazilian NGO and so have now set them up so that the girls can use them for homework and to learn some IT skills.
