Research into physical record storage within Victorian Government
PROV investigates
Since 2013, PROV has conducted a number of surveys to determine the volumes, locations and storage costs of physical government records storage held by Victorian Government agencies and within commercial facilities.
Although our research is ongoing, there are already some emerging observations we can share.
walata tyamateetj (meaning to carry knowledge), a guide to Victorian Government records about Aboriginal people, was awarded a Mander Jones Award for best finding aid to an archival collection at the recent Australian Society of Archivists annual conference.
This publication is a joint initiative by Public Record Office Victoria and the National Archives of Australia. It includes information about Victoria's Koorie history through a comprehensive listing of records which can be accessed both in hard copy and electronic formats.
Copies of the guide can be downloaded, or a free hard copy ordered, here.
