Help Give Us Wings

September 17, 2015

Aviation has transformed the North Texas economy from one based on farming and ranching to one that relies heavily on aircraft manufacturing and related technology and service industries. Do you know that today North Texas is one of the largest aviation/aerospace centers in the world?  Or, that one in 5 jobs in the Metroplex is aviation related?

North Texans were pioneers in the early days of aviation through their participation in the Army Air Service. Since World War II, tens of thousands of local residents built and flew the combat aircraft and bombers that won the war against Nazism, and later, the jets and helicopters that ended the Cold War.

The Fort Worth Aviation Museum is dedicated to the dual purpose of preserving the proud and patriotic aviation heritage of the people of North Texas and encouraging the region’s youth to pursue careers in the engineering and manufacturing fields that make up the aviation industry. The museum is an active participant in Fort Worth's historical preservation programs and works closely with area schools.

To maintain the museum as a facility where young people can come to be inspired by the achievements of local aviation pioneers requires not only the dedication of volunteers, but the generous financial donations of members of the local community. The cost of the equipment needed to restore retired aircraft for public display and to acquire advanced teaching tools for museum visitors is expensive.

Here's how you can help.  Please help us continue to bring this valuable source of supplemental education to our community through a donation of any size on North Texas Giving Day.  Visit our website to learn more about our needs (Click Here) or go directly to the North Texas Giving Day website to learn more about this community-wide program (Click Here).

Thank you for helping us grow our wings!

BroncoFest X is coming October 7-11

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the first flight of the North American Rockwell Boeing OV-10 Bronco.   This also coincides with our tenth bi-annual BroncoFest reunion and celebration of all things Bronco.  Once again this year we have four days of activities for Bronco enthusiasts and veterans alike.

One of the highlights of the weekend will be the re-dedication of our Air Force OV-10A #825.  Our restoration group has been working on our Bronco for nearly a year to make it ready and passed a milestone yesterday when it was primed and painted in one day, (actually seven hours.)

Please visit our website to see a listing of all the events and how you can register and attend.

Activities will include:
  • Welcome Aboard reception
  • Lockheed Martin Tours
  • Stockyards Segway Tour
  • Historic Fort Worth Aviation bus tour
  • Family Picnic and Aircraft Dedication
  • Awards Dinner
  • And more.
