Hello and welcome to this edition of Brilliant Play's 'NewsBuzz'!
Your monthly(ish) round up of what's been going on and what's new at Brilliant Play.

We need a holiday to get over the summer holidays! We've been super busy here at Brilliant Play - it was so great to see so many of you at our 'Summer Fun' and Mini Explorers Club Sessions.
A big thank you to Stanley Children's Centre for commissioning 'Play in the Park' and 'Family Mini Explorers.' Also to LBRuT Sports Department for making our  'Play Beach' Sessions possible.

Here's what we've been up to this summer.........

Play in the Park

We made lots of delicious concoctions in our mud kitchen, blew bubbles that travelled all the way to the moon, made the tallest towers with our Imagination Playground and got creative decorating our own boxes to take home. So much fun!

Play Beach Sessions

Literally hundreds of you came out to pay at the 'beach.' The beach volleyball courts at Broom Rd Rec, Teddington were transformed in to a giant sandy playground with sandcastle building, imagination playground and tons more. Here's what you said;

'It was such a treat to play in the sand. We saw the court being built and have always wanted to come in. We loved it!'

Mini Explorers Family Session

A huge gang of you came out to play with us - we shared the book 'Stickman' and then made our own 'Stick men/ladies/kids.' There was so much creativity going on with acorn hats, feather dresses and moss hair. The unplanned highlight was perhaps the giant spider web that was created using several balls of wool and a handy football goal. Wouldn't like to see the size of the spider who lived there........

Mini Explorers Club 3 Day Adventures

We searched for mixed magical potions, cast spells with our handcrafted wands, searched for dragons, lost treasure and poor Digby Dogs lost suitcase.  There was lots of problem solving, team work and fantastic observational skills displayed - well done Mini Explorers!
Here's what you said;

'Thank you so much! P has had such a great time with you this week-she has not stopped talking about all the adventures she has had. Looking forward to the next time!'

Don't miss out on this autumns sessions - more details below...

Dads Go Wild is a 6 week course that aims to provide dads and their children (aged 3 plus) with the chance to engage in natural play opportunities together. Alongside having fun together we want to enable dads to develop a fuller understanding of how to support children’s emotional and physical and cognitive development via a range of structured and unstructured play opportunities.

Dads Go Wild will enable you to:

  • Develop an understanding of the functions of children’s play and help you to ‘decode’ what your child is telling you via their play
  • Apply dynamic risk benefit assessment proportionate to your child’s abilities and environment
  • Consider what impact on children’s overall development different play environments have
  • To understand how children’s brain development affects behaviour and develop strategies to respond to this

Dads Go Wild is subsidised by the Community Learning Fund so is just £20 for the whole 6 week course! Please contact us with any questions or book your space below - next course starts in November.
