A Message from Your County Manager

Davie County Residents,
It is again our privilege to provide you with another issue of the County Connection e-newsletter.  We consider this our opportunity to update you on important information taking place at the local government level that directly affects you.  We appreciate your willingness to take a few moments from your day to read this correspondence and hope you will consider sharing with others in our community who may not be aware of the County Connection.  We encourage you to share via social media and of course, forward to your email contacts--we want to continue growing the list of subscribers who receive this communication from Davie County and appreciate any help you can provide.

Real Estate Property Tax Bills Planned for Late August
Real Estate Property Tax Bills were mailed to Davie County property owners in mid-August. This year, the tax office included a factual insert that explained how tax revenues are used to provide various services in our community. In case you missed it, we are including a snapshot of the insert. In addition, a new web page has been established at www.daviecountync.org/YourTaxBill2015 that shows the new tax rate, explains the actual tax notice including tax administration definitions, and details what services are provided in key budget categories. A section is also devoted to Frequently Asked Questions and residents are encouraged to submit additional questions they would like to see included by emailing info@daviecountync.org.

Davie County Water & Sewer:  An essential service at a reasonable price.
Residents will receive water/sewer notices in mid September.  Our Public Utilities Department is committed to making information available to consumers so they fully understand current rates and what these rates provide.  We encourage you to watch for this informative insert in your next water/sewer notice.

East Davie Sewer Update and Clarification
At the August 3rd meeting of the Davie County Board of Commissioners, Commissioners were presented with sewer plans that caused alarm in the community.  After meeting with concerned residents, we want to assure affected users that NO PLANS for the wastewater pump station have changed.  The area that appeared to be of concern involved the alternatives that were presented to commissioners that will determine how the Town of Bermuda Run is connected to the East Davie Station.  This review and study of alternatives is part of the plan that was provided to commissioners and residents during February of 2015--the comparison of alternatives is merely the next step in designing a system that will adequately supply residents and cause minimal disruption to homeowners.  Commissioners are expected to vote on the alternatives at their Monday, September 7th meeting.

Davie County Senior Center Reviews Options for New Covered Canopy
Plans are moving forward to construct a covered canopy at the Senior Center that will provide shelter for residents as they enter and exit the facility.  We are excited to share the rendering we have received from our architects that illustrate how the canopy will benefit the center.  We will continue to update you on the status of this project as it moves forward.

We continue to appreciate this opportunity to update you on local issues and always encourage you to communicate with your local and state leaders.  We hope that you will also consider following us on Facebook and Twitter for additional information.

Sincerely,

Mike Ruffin, County Manager
