Prayer of New Beginning

God of new beginnings, we are walking into mystery. We face the future, not knowing what the days and months will bring us or how we will respond. Be love in us as we journey. May we welcome all who come our way. Deepen our life to see all life through your eyes. Fill us with hope and an abiding trust that you dwell in us amidst all our joys and sorrows. Thank you for the treasure of our faith life. Thank you for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance of Your walking through the day with us. God of our past and future, we praise you. Amen.

BSM Families Needed to Host Visiting Japanese Students

For one week in October, students from BSM's Japanese sister school, Kaisei Gakuin, will once again visit Minnesota to attend classes at BSM. This visit and home stay experience has become a tradition at BSM. In the last six years, over 400 Japanese students have developed lasting relationships with the BSM community. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to broaden your international experience and learn more about Japanese culture by opening your homes and hearts to our young visitors.

The students will arrive Wednesday, October 7, and depart Wednesday, October 14. Gift cards from local merchants will be available for host families. Families will be invited to a sayonara dinner and talent show on the eve of their departure. An orientation breakfast for host families will be held at the Minikahda Club in early September. There is no need to go to the airport; pick-up and drop-off will occur at BSM for your convenience. To arrange a home stay and for more information, contact Tom and Sue Haeg at 612 940 3351.

Senior High

National Honor Society Selection

Letters of eligibility for NHS were mailed last week. Only BSM juniors and seniors with a cumulative GPA of 3.500 or higher are eligible. If your Red Knight meets that initial criterion, he or she should have received a letter at home on BSM letterhead, addressed to the student, not the parents. These letters include important information for any prospective NHS candidates. If your junior or senior Red Knights did not receive a letter and you believe they are eligible:
  • First, look carefully at any BSM letters you received recently--sometimes they get lost in the shuffle.
  • Then, if you're sure they didn't receive a letter, please encourage them to contact Mr. Rob Epler, the NHS Advisor, as soon as possible to confirm their eligibility.

Parent Association
End of Year Gift
Thank you to BSM parents for supporting the Parent Association during the 2014-2015 school year! Because of the generosity of your time, talent and treasure, the PA gifted $78,000 to the school. The money is used to fund traditional items such as scholarships, drug and alcohol abuse use prevention programs and senior high prom buses. Additionally, this money is being used for classroom renovations. Specifically, room number 121 (Sister Jean’s room) has been renovated with new carpet, a raised ceiling, teacher technology, student and teacher desks, ventilation ducts and a new door.

Stop in and take a look at the classroom during Knight School on Wednesday, September 9, from 6:30 - 9 p.m. The new Parent Association board and committees look forward to building community and supporting BSM during the new school year!
