Dear <<First Name>>,
I hope the end of your summer has been full of fun and good produce! Ours has been very busy, read on to see what's been happening this month!
Newest Quilt
I did it! I got this really long quilt made for Liam to take to college!
I haven't even processed the rest of the pictures, they'll be on the blog in a day or two! Most importantly, Liam loves it! And speaking of Liam...
Our Nashville Adventure
The whole family flew to Nashville last Thursday to move Liam into Vanderbilt University! We had a great time finding lots of great restaurants, everyone in Nashville is so NICE! The freshman experience at Vandy is top notch, move-in day was super easy! They do lots of activities that I think are awesome, although Liam has less patience for things like this:
Yep, there are all of his classmates, all 1599 of them! That many students is a bit overwhelming, but not to worry, because his peer group is much smaller and under excellent guidance by his awesome trombone teacher Jeremy Wilson and all the faculty at the Blair School of Music within Vanderbilt University. Jeremy hosted a cookout the day before classes began, here is the whole trombone studio:

Jeremy's wife Kristi is an awesome photographer, she takes these pictures to add to the studio's website and facebook pages, here's her portrait of Liam:

And yes, I dyed the tie (Black and Gold, Vandy's colors) and the pocket square! Actually, Liam went off to school with 4 more brightly colored ties I dyed him, although he's never wanted to wear tee shirts that I dye, he loves his bright ties!

Marketing for Artists Class at the RAA
MONDAY: August 31, 6:30 – 9 p.m.
Being a successful artist is so much more than perfecting your technique and focussing in on subject material that speaks to you; today’s artist has to be their own advocate and marketer as well. Opportunities abound with the tools that the internet brings to your marketing toolkit, but it can also be overwhelming: Facebook, Twitter, Blogging, Instagram, where does it end?
In this one evening class I will explain many of the marketing tools available to artists, pointing out the pros and cons of each one.Bring items you are using for marketing (like business cards, photos of your booth, a laptop computer so we can look at your website, etc…) and I will point out what’s working, what’s missing, and help you design a strategy for YOU to be more comfortable marketing YOUR art!
more info here.
