Library Friends

Check out the Friends Second Saturday Sale coming up October 10! These sales are offered each month from 9:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. The first hour is open to members only. We will have a $5 Bag Sale on Sunday, October 11 from 12Noon to 3:30 p.m. Not a Friends member? Memberships  are very affordable and available on our website, at the door on the day of the sale or pick up a membership form at the Welcome Desk the next time you visit the Bloomfield Township Public Library.

Metropolitan Detroit Flute Choir @ the Library

On Friday, October 16 at 7:30 p.m., join us for a unique concert with the Metropolitan Detroit Flute Choir, led by Erv Monroe, former principal flutist with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. This wonderful ensemble includes many area flutists who want to share the history and variety of this beloved instrument. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. 

 

Relationship Matters: a Consumer Guide to Dealing with Investment Professionals

Beginning on Wednesday, October 21 at 7 p.m., take part in a two session workshop presented by Mark Robinson on how to work with financial and investment professionals, including handling sales pitches, evaluating investment professionals, and learning the truth about fees and returns. Since 2007, financial educational content developed by Mr. Robinson has been presented to over 100,000 Michigan consumers through partnerships with the State of Michigan and the Federal Reserve. Registration is required due to limited space, but is open to everyone. This is a two-part workshop, and attendees should plan on coming to both sessions. The second session is Wednesday, October 28 at 7 p.m.

 

Oktoberfest with Trader Joe’s

Trader Joe’s is returning to Bloomfield Township Public Library with another great program! On Monday, October 12 at 7 p.m. representatives from our local Trader Joe’s will be here to discuss the history and varieties of beer and ale to help celebrate Oktoberfest. We will be serving pretzels but please keep in mind that no alcohol will be served during this event. Registration is required but open to everyone.

 

An App Away: Ebooks @ the Library

On Wednesday, October 14 at 2 p.m. you can bring your Android or Apple (IOS) tablet or smartphone, and we'll show you how to download Ebooks and Eaudiobooks from the Library's Overdrive collection. Go to the Download link on the Library's home page to get started with one of the Quickstart guides, or pick one up at the Adult Services Desk. Registration is required and open to Township cardholders only. Traditional black and white Kindle or Nook users should email askadult@btpl.org to make an appointment for a help session.
