2015-2016 theme verse:

See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.  -  Isaiah 43:19 (NIV)

SWU sets new enrollment record

President Todd Voss greets students and their families during Orientation Aug. 15 at the Central campus. SWU welcomed a record number of incoming students to its Central campus for the 2015-’16 academic year.
According to David Slabaugh, director of admissions, there were 267 new students and a 9 percent increase of first-time freshmen over last year. Slabaugh added that SWU admissions also celebrated a 3 percent increase in freshman and transfer students over last year. According to Dr. Joe Brockinton, VP for student life, SWU also experienced a 10 percent increase in students living on campus, as 436 moved into campus housing. According to Chad Peters, vice president for enrollment management, total enrollment in the traditional program at Central is 772 students, up 9.3 percent over the 2014-’15 academic year.

From the President

More Exciting SWU Updates to Report
  • New scholarship gifts continue to come in to SWU! The support of our SWU friends, employees and alums continues to grow, and with that, future students will benefit from a variety of new scholarships in the works. We are so thankful, and recognize our future rests in so many ways on the generosity of so many providing future scholarships for our students!
  • Two wonderful new faculty just joined SWU. Dr. Namhoon Lee is assistant professor of business (he indicates his friends call him August) and Dr. Wale Adeboje is joining us as associate professor of computer science. Please welcome them warmly!
  • Progress is being made on the soccer/track and field area as well as the softball seating area with gifts for more bleachers and a "deal of the century" for a digital scoreboard at the Gilbert Track and Field Complex. Work will commence in 2-3 weeks!
  • We are getting closer and closer to the final step for a new entrance boulevard off of Hwy. 93, supported by state and county road improvement funds! Our town administrator, Phil Mishoe has been an amazing advocate in this process…. and your prayers are making a difference for this and many other funding opportunities in our sights!
  • The president’s office submitted a foundation grant this week that would dramatically enhance student and employee wellness offerings for SWU. Pray for success of this grant. We will hear in December.
Save the date: Oct. 30 and 31!
