After months of planning, Donate Life Northwest is pleased to announce that we have launched our Living Kidney Donation Patient Education and MentoringProgram! Through partnership with OHSU’s Transplant Services, this program provides potential recipients with education about the process, how to effectively share their story, and how the Internet can optimize the odds for a successful transplant. Participants are paired with mentors - Donate Life Northwest volunteers who have undergone advanced training and evaluation. All mentors have either previously undergone transplant surgery or have donated a kidney. We hope to expand this informative program to other hospitals and dialysis centers in the future and are very excited about its potential to save lives and support those on the waiting list!
