Last School Year and Summer
It is hard to believe that we have been serving at the Black Forest Academy for eight months! Over the last semester of the school year and this summer, we feel that God has confirmed His desire for us to serve here as a family. Let me share with you some of the highlights.
  • Charlie had one class of Industrial Arts students. The students really enjoyed the projects they created. "Industrial Arts taught me to persevere even when the machine spits wood at you." " Industrial Arts has taught me about hard work and creating things with my hands..."
  • Charlie continues to work on the maintenance team. This team works hard all year round to keep the school, dorms, and other building up and running, so that ministry can happen.
  • We hosted two girls from Hinkson Academy in Moscow, Russia for the honor's music program held at BFA in March. They both enjoyed getting to know our kids and were very touched by our hospitality during their stay.
  • We also took on ministering to the TeachBeyond dorm students. There were four seniors living in dorms whose parents are/were missionaries with TB. It was fun to have them over for dinner and leave encouraging notes/treats in their mailboxes.
  • Alyson spent 2.5 weeks in Brest, Belarus this summer on a missions trip. What was suppose to be an English Camp turned into a Leadership Development Camp for a local church's young adults/youth leadership. These young people have amazing ministries they provide the city of Brest where it is illegal to do public evangelism. However, none of them had ever heard of leadership development or thought of the idea to have a camp to minister to their leaders. The camp we put on meet many needs for these young people. Needs they had been praying about for over a year. God was good and directed our steps to accomplish what He knew needed to be done, even though it was not what we had planned.
Upcoming School Year
The 2015-2016 school year starts on Sept 1. Over the last 3 weeks we have had training sessions to start the new school year off with renewed passion for students and the ministry we provide many of their families serving as missionaries around the world. This year there are 306 students in 5th-12th grade from 60 countries attending BFA. This year we will be doing the following.
  • Charlie will be teaching one Industrial Arts class and hopes to add an Industrial Arts level II class next year.
  • Charlie will continue to work on the maintenance team.
  • Alyson has signed up to lead a girls small group.
  • Alyson is taking lead of running the churches kindergarten Sunday school class.

Prayer Requests
  • Recently we found out that our ministry fund is low. We feel God has lead us to serve here at BFA and truly believe He has more in store for us here. We have been praying about extending our initial 2.5 year commitment to 5 years. However, this will not be possible without you. Our family was able to initially come to BFA due to many generous one time gifts, however we can not sustain our ministry this way. We need $2,000.00 more in monthly supporters. Please pray about God's calling for you to partner with us in our ministry to missionary kids and their families. BFA is so much more than a school! We would love to call (land lines) or skype with you about partnering with us.
  • Pray for our family as we transition. That we will be a blessing to those around us and make some good friends along the way.
  • Pray for Charlie that he is able to do his job diligently and safely.
  • Pray for Alyson for wisdom and discernment as she gets involved with small groups and heads up kindergarten Sunday school.
  • Pray that we will build relationships with the students and make a positive impact in their lives. That we would show them how to live out a Christian life in all we do.
  • God will give us His guidance and that we will have discernment to know His will and the obedience to follow.
