Parkville Police Department Receives Interactive Milo Range Simulator

The City of Parkville is excited to announce that the Parkville Police Department was selected to host the MILO Range Simulator. The MILO Range Simulator is on loan from Midwest Public Risk (MPR), a municipal risk pool to which the City belongs for Property & Liability and Workers’ Compensation coverage. Parkville was the first community selected by MPR to host the equipment on-site for training simulations.

The MILO Range Simulator is a world-class interactive simulation training product. Since 1994, the award-winning MILO product line has been continuously selected as the de-facto training simulator for all branches of law enforcement, military, security, and public safety agencies throughout the United States.

The MILO Range Simulator is an interactive device that displays virtual use-of-force and shoot/don’t shoot training scenarios on a large projector screen.  These life-like training scenarios provide a safe learning environment for law performance personnel.

Earlier this year, Parkville Police Captain Jon Jordan received his MILO training certification.  Captain Jordan is able to set-up, manage, and train others on the use of the MILO machine. Captain Jordan said that “The MILO Range Simulator provides an opportunity to evaluate and improve officer cognitive skills in a simulated stress situation.  It also allows the trainer to safely discuss all levels of use-of-force in real time.”

Parkville City Administrator Lauren Palmer went through a handful of scenarios on the MILO Range Simulator.  Following her experience, she said that “I have a new appreciation for the tough decisions police officers have to make in the field to keep us all safe. I am so pleased that Chief Chrisman and Captain Jordan took the initiative to secure this training tool to help better prepare Parkville officers.” The Mayor and members of the Board of Aldermen will test the MILO Range Simulator at 5:45 p.m. prior to the regular Board meeting on September 1, 2015.
