Team USA Seniors Take on WOC

Congratulations to our Senior squad for their recent performance at the World Orienteering Championships in Scotland. The top American was Ali Crocker who finished 15th in the Sprint, 45th in the Long and ran a leg, with Samantha Saeger and Alison Campbell, on the 20th place relay team.

The 2016 WOC will be next August in Sweden.

Team USA MTBO Rides Through Czech Republic

The 10 members of MTBO Team USA are back from a great experience competing at WMTBOC 2015, and hopefully you've been one of the 1,000+ fans following their adventures through the Team blog and Facebook page and event photo album. The Team thanks you for all the support, Likes and encouraging comments!

Here's a quick puzzle from the Middle Distance competition for you - can you see the best route from 13 to 14? It's a relatively short leg, yet the riders who chose it (including Team USA's Tom Puzak, fastest of the Team in this race) saved at least 30 - 60 seconds. When you've selected the route you think is best, click on the image to reveal the answer; the tails representing 'Dall' and 'Beil' show the best route. [Replays of all courses (and GPS tracks) are online at WMTBOC 2015.]

Wondering About MTBO? Watch This Video!

The entire Sprint race in one video (below); the corresponding map is here. Congrats to Sarah Ginsbach, fastest Team USA rider in this event and the person wearing the camera.

Team USA also posted a video on the Team Facebook video page of their fine Training Camp experience in the Czech Republic. The Team would love to hold training camps open to all in the US before too long - contact Greg Lennon if you have a venue to suggest!

OUSA Continues Two New Benefits for Clubs

As mentioned in earlier e-newsletters OUSA is offering two new benefits for clubs; club grants and free/low cost mountain bike mapping.

This year, clubs are available to apply for grant money from OUSA…not just for maps.

In addition you can get your club’s first MTBO map made with help from Orienteering USA. If your club has a terrain that you feel might be suitable, we’ll look into it and then work out how to get it mapped for MTBO swiftly at low or no cost.

For either opportunity, contact OUSA's
Greg Lennon for more details.

Call for 2016 and 2017 A-meets and National Championships

The 2016 national calendar is starting to fill up (see below) with the US Interscholastic/ Intercollegiate and Classic champs already awarded.  Current national championships still open include: Individual, Relay, UltraLong, Trail and Night.
