Yeah, what an opening week!

We feel blessed to have moved away from one public bathroom, cramped hallways and parking lots that looked like the Mall on Black Friday.

For a ballet studio our size to have these types of studios, is almost unheard of. In the world of small business, this move may not have been possible on our own. We are fortunate to have business partners taking this journey with us.
Meet husband and wife team Patrick & Jennifer Britt. Learn about their story and business After School Plus.
Greg Force is the owner and head coach of Greenville Gymnastics.

Like moving in with roommates, we are working on our new home quarters together.

Things we have learned the first week & general reminders:

  • No matter where we are, the first week of dance is chaotic.
  • Learning classsrooms, meeting teachers is a learning curve. It adds to the crazinees like any other first week.
  • As we worked through each day last week, we adjusted schedules with our partners making it the most optimal experience for our students and families.
  • ASP shares the hallway with DAG, and have altered their time to transition with our schedule to aid for calmer and quieter hallways.
  • We need to recognize that we are not alone. If a dancer needs to change their shoes, they need to sit on the areas that are provided or along the walls.
  • We are working on ways to help the privacy when the door opens in the girls dressing room. All students should bring all their belongs into the studio. Our oldest dancers, should secure their purses, wallets and keys.
  • If you have younger siblings, please do not let them go into the dressing rooms or play (kick the walls) by the observation mirrors.
  • As always DAG families are welcome in our studio. We have multiple observation windows. If you enjoy having dance mom friend conversations, please have those in our beautiful porch or upstairs in the lobby. We would like to keep the hallways clear of standing and chatting.
  • There are two restrooms upstairs.
  • Drop off. If a child is mature enough to enter the building, find their studio and is dance ready (dressed and hair secured) They can be dropped off using the circle path no sooner than 15 minutes before their class. Because we are a shared building with additional families, we can not be responsible for unattended children before and after their class.
  • Pick up. Please meet your child after her class. If you have unforeseen delays to pick your child up, we will make sure the teachers keep the child in the studio and then will contact the DAG concierge to bring them to the office.
  • To ensure the safety of DAG students, we have added a new DAG concierge position. Their role is:
  • Greet our students when entering and exiting the studio.
  • Oversee the changing area
  • Provide escorted restroom breaks during classtimes for our downstairs studios. Remember the 'Gene Kelly' studio upstairs has its own attached bathroom.
  • We have purchased walkie talkie's so that the teacher can directly reach the DAG concierge and office.
  • ASP has adjusted their scheduling to keep the gym quieter. ASP maintains classrooms, snack time in the cafeteria, field and gym time.
  •  It is our goal that the gym will be our fifth studio.
  • We will be providing a table upstairs to allow siblings to have a place to wait and do their homework, etc.
  • The large opening above the gym will be closed off to help with sound.
  • Missmyclass@danceartsgreenville is the email to inform the studio of an absence. The DAG staff will contact to schedule make-ups. You do not need to make-ups the classes.
