A glimpse into the life of a King - Arius 'Big Boi' Willis

 

Arius 'Big Boi' Willis attends Rainier Beach High School and is going into the 11th grade.   A three-sports athlete growing up, he has switched his attention and focus to the sport he loves the most.  His stats this past summer lead the 18U team in RBIs and Hits.  We caught up with "Big Boi" to check in on his summer:


BBB: How did you get the nickname 'big boi'?
AW: My mom....I was born weighing 8lbs but a week or so later I ended up weighing 12lbs. They must have thought I was a Big Boi!

BBB: Who is your favorite baseball player to watch growing up?
AW: My favorite baseball player growing up was my dad, Aaron Willis. 

BBB: What is your favorite cartoon?
AW: I would have to say my favorite cartoon is Boondocks.

BBB: What is your earliest childhood memory?
AW: My earliest memory was always playing baseball outside with my family, I guess that's why I love the game so much...

BBB: What did you do over the summer, besides play baseball? 
AW: Not studying or working. Just focused on playing the game of baseball.

BBB: When you were growing up, what did you want to be?
AW: I always wanted to be a professional baseball player, I still do...

BBB: What is your most treasured possession?
AW: My Air Jordan's

BBB: What musical artist do you listen to before games?
AW: J. Cole

 
BBB: What do you eat for breakfast before games?
AW: I skip breakfast

BBB: What is your favorite dish?
AW: Can't go wrong with Pizza

BBB: What is your favorite holiday?
AW: Christmas

BBB: Who is your favorite actor/actress?
AW: Jessica Alba

BBB: If your stranded on an island, what are three (3) things you would need?
AW: The three things I need is my XBox, cell phone and baseball bat.

BBB: How has playing with us helped you grow personally and professionally?
AW: The program and its coaches make me want to be better.  They make learning the game fun.
