Hi everyone,

I'm off to the Eden Mills Writers' Festival tomorrow (Sun), where I'll be reading WHERE ARE MY BOOKS? as well as giving a fun, interactive drawing demo. Next Sunday, I'll be at Telling Tales Festival. Hope to see some of you at one (or both?) events!

A few links I'd like to share:

A Toronto boy wrote an incredibly sweet apology note for ripping a library book.

Did you know that Madeleine L'Engle almost gave up writing when she turned 40, because of rejections?

You can get a wonderful poem every day for free from children's book author, Jane Yolen. Sign up here.

I posted my photos (Flickr/Facebook) from the Sept. CANSCAIP meeting where Kevin Sylvester moderated a panel of SECRETS authors.

Artists on Twitter: Matt Roeser (@mattroeser) has been promoted to Assistant Art Director at Candlewick Press. I've updated my list of children's book art directors/designers on Twitter.

Have a great weekend, all!

Debbie
I was chopping strawberries for a salad when one of them JUMPED ONTO MY SKETCHPAD AND FORCED ME TO DRAW THIS DOODLE.
Inspired by blueberries and a quote: “My two favourite things in life are libraries and bicycles. They both move people forward without wasting anything." - Peter Golkin
To board gamers out there: You know the cardboard frames that are leftover after you punch out pieces? I love doodling with those. This past week I took doodle suggestions on my @BGGgirl gaming account (I also tweet from @inkyelbows and @debbieohi), and here's what happened.
Goodreads tweeted the iPad comic I did with Paul Carroll! Their accompanying tweet comment: "Hopefully, it never comes to this."

Thanks to all the young artists who entered my 2015 Summer "Look Again" Challenge! You can see the full gallery online and also browse my Look Again found object doodle page.
I've added some new free, print-ready activity sheets to my For The Love Of Reading resource: Freckle Juice-themed reading/writing sheets and Minecraft-themed reading/writing sheets.
WHERE ARE MY BOOKS? launched from Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers earlier this year! Find out more about my first solo picture book (including lots of free bonus goodies).
