A humble and
faith-filled man
The community of St Clement's, Galong, has lost a much-loved member with the death of Br Frank Flynn CSsR.
Br Frank died in Orange hospital where he was flown by air ambulance after a car accident near Young. Br Clement Holz was injured in the accident and is now recovering in Mercy Care, Young.
In his homily at the funeral Mass celebrated at Galong, rector Fr Bill Goldman CSsR said Br Frank was "a humble, faith-filled man".
The themes of Br Frank's life were common to all but Br Frank "expressed them in his own unique, unforgettable way," Fr Goldman said. "The picture of his life that he painted was bold and clear. The themes are work and love.
"Much of our human dignity arises from the capacity each of us has to love other people and do useful work in this world. In each of us this wonderful capacity to work and to love is tragically marred because we sometimes live out of our shadow side – we make wrong choices. Yet there is much grace that shines forth, evidence that God is active in the lives we live. God was active in the life of Frank Flynn.
"Br Frank seemed content with work and love. Like any of us, he was not perfect, but he chose the right direction," Fr Goldman said.
Prayers for Br Frank Flynn can be left at the Redemptorists' on-line chapel: http://cssr.org.au/about_us/default_prayers.cfm?loadref=104

His life was a sermon
Br Frank never preached a sermon but his life was a sermon, Fr Leo Coffey CSsR said in his eulogy.
He said Br Frank will be remembered by all as "a man of the earth, a man of simple faith, a gentle presence."
"He made people feel welcome and at ease. He had warmth and understanding and compassion."
51 years at Galong
Br Frank was born into a Victorian farming family in March 1936 and was aged 79 when he died. He was a Redemptorist Religious Brother for 55 years, and for 51 of those years he lived and worked on the farm at Galong. He is survived by his brother Joe, from Rochester, Victoria, nieces and a nephew.
