Dear Oregon Children's Choir Families,
It is always fun to hear about the great music our OCC members and alumni are sharing through their lives all over the nation. OCC has alumni that are singing in choirs all over the nation, alumni also are on the stage, in operas, a cappella groups, teaching music, being amazing concert goers, music fans and inspiring so many others to keep music as a part of their world and share it with others. OCC has raised several ambassadors of harmony that we are so proud of.
Over the summer of 2015, OCC held 4 camps and hosted the Maryland State Boychoir, and all were a success! Our camps were Vocal Skills for Elementary and Middle School, A Cappella for High School and Arranging for A Cappella for HS! We went over ensemble and solo singing skills, we learned how to arrange and think about music, we were inspired to write our own music and put our own style into our voices, we had workshops with outstanding soloists, teachers and a cappella members from our community and we have great times while doing it all. The Maryland State Boychoir did a workshop with the OCC Boychoir and they were amazing! We hope to see them again soon!
As we start this new school year OCC hopes you know how important it is to have great music opportunities in our area for youth. We are striving to nurture and educate the youth of today to become musically and vocally diverse artists, patrons, and leaders of the musical world for tomorrow while forming musical bonds and friendships that will last a life time.Do you know of someone who would like to join? Please share the OCC family with your friends who love to sing and let them know that they are welcome to try it out!

OCC Parent Meeting!
Sunday, September 13th
3:00-4:00pm at First United Methodist Church!
Parents are requested to attend, but choristers' attendance is optional at this meeting. We will meet all together in the Fellowship Hall from 3:00-3:30, and then we will break out into our respective choirs from 3:30-4:00. We will talk about choir goals this year, schedules, uniforms and trips. Please plan to attend!
IN A RUSH? Make it simpler at the parent meeting by having your forms filled out ahead of time. Lines can be quite long at the parent meeting. Our goal is to have everyone registered online and have paid the minimum tuition payment of $75 by this Sunday. You can also skip an extra step by filling out the health forms ahead of time and bringing them to the meeting instead of filling them out during the meeting. You can find all the printable forms you need on our website, including health forms, scholarship applications, the parent handbook, etc.

GREAT NEWS!!!
From now on, OCC concerts will be ticket free! All are invited at no charge to all OCC concerts! Come enjoy and bring all your friends!
In lieu of ticket sales for our two big concerts, there will be an add-on facility fee of $25 per chorister (formerly, the price for a family season ticket was $35, so it's definitely a cost savings!) The facility fee can be reduced by scholarships and sibling discounts. This fee has been added to each chorister’s main tuition amount. (For the 2015-2016 season only, this extra fee will not have to be paid in full by the tuition balance deadline of October 12th in order to qualify for any early Registration Discounts.)

MORE Exciting News!
* NEW Middle School A Cappella Group will start this year!
The auditions will be on Oct 19 and all auditionees must be from OCC Boychoir and Girlchoir! This will be a free outbreak group for our OCC middle school choristers this year! Rehearsal times will be an hour once a week and times will be TBA and based on the group’s schedule as much as possible.
* Willamette Honor Choir!
OCC is very proud to host an all new advanced concert choir event called Willamette Honor Choir! With the direction of Christopher Olin, choir and music education professor at the University of Oregon, OCC is proud to announce this new opportunity! If you are in the area of the District 12 High Schools, we are looking for the best 8 choristers from each choir to join in forming the Willamette Valley Honor Choir! The Concert for this choir will be at Beall Hall in the University of Oregon School of Music on February 3, with a rehearsal on January 31.This event will be an advanced opportunity to sing very beautiful and challenging repertoire under the awesome direction of Prof Christopher Olin right where we live! More details to come soon!

OCC JAS Choirs, Girlchoir and Boychoir have been invited to sing at the Jim Brickman "Comfort and Joy Concert" at the Portland 5 Newmark Theater on Nov 29th 2015! We are so honored to be asked to participate in this event! Here is a description of the event taken from his website:
