State of the Step Sisters - September 2015
President's Message
I hope everyone had a nice summer! It's hard to believe fall is already around the corner, which means Breast Cancer Awareness month is also quickly approching. Are you not a fan of all the "pinkwashing" that occurs in October? Not everyone is.
The fact is, if you buy a pink vacuum or cookies sporting a pink ribbon, very little of those funds actually reach the intended cause.
The Step Sisters share your concern about the overwhelming number of pink ribbon products and promotions on the market. This October, we encourage consumers to ask critical questions about these promotions to really understand where your money goes.
When you donate to The Step Sisters, you can be confident that those funds make a meaningful and direct impact in the lives of local breast cancer patients like this one: “I was having a rough/emotional day last Wednesday. When I ventured outside I found the thoughtful delivery of fresh fruit and soup waiting for me on my porch. Thank you doesn't seem to cover it, please know how much this delivery of food is very much appreciated.†--Loudoun Breast Cancer Patient
We have so many new and exciting opportunities coming up for Breast Cancer Awareness month in October. Please take a moment to check out all of the Step Sisters' plans below...

Are You Ready to Step Up?
Step Up, Loudoun is an appeal for businesses and residents to show their support for local breast cancer patients during the month of October. It’s all about neighbors helping neighbors; reaching out to those that are facing one of the toughest times in their lives.
How can my organization take part?
Really any way you want to! Hold an office or school fundraiser such as a crazy tie/scarf day. Donate proceeds from a special event held at your company. We have lots of fun and meaningful ways for you to get involved!
What’s in it for my business?
Gratitude from The Step Sisters and the breast cancer patients utilizing Step Sister services, such as transportation to and from appointments, fresh food delivery, house cleaning, lawn services and child care. We also recognize your organization on social media and provide you with a special “Step Sister Supporter†logo for use on your website.
How are the Step Sisters different from other breast cancer charities?
While other charities raise funds for a cure, we are stepping in until there is one. Our money stays local. We currently support patients in Loudoun County and recently expanded to help those in Fairfax County as well.
What are other ways for my organization to get involved?
Besides much-needed donations, The Step Sisters always need volunteers for our largest fundraiser, The Ribbon Run, held each April in Ashburn. We love to see teams come together to help organize the 2,000+ participants for a successful event. Contact us for other ways we can work together.
Share This Badge to Show Your Support:
