09/10/2015 LICKING COUNTY, OHIO – The Licking County Health Department is planning to have a variety of flu vaccine options available for county residents in October. Residents can attend one of the Health Department’s walk-in flu clinics for adults or schedule an appointment for a child by calling (740) 349-6535. Arrangements can also be made to schedule a special group clinic at workplaces, schools, and other locations.
The Health Department has quadrivalent flu vaccine that protect against four different strains of the flu, high-dose vaccine approved for use in people 65 years of age and older, preservative-free vaccine recommended for pregnant women, and Flumist recommended for healthy children ages two – 18.
Adults are asked to bring their insurance cards to the clinic or appointment. The Health Department can bill the full cost of the vaccination to Medicare, Medicaid, Anthem Blue Cross, Cigna, The Health Plan, HealthReach, HealthSCOPE, Medical Mutual, Ohio PPO Connect, United HealthCare and several other plans.
The Health Department has a limited amount of vaccines for high-risk adults who are not covered by health insurance and unable to pay for the vaccine. For those without coverage who are not high-risk, or those covered by an insurer the Health Department cannot bill, there is a $25 charge due at the time of the service.
