Media Literacy Month is in Full Swing!
We are halfway through our Media Literacy Month and so far, it has been a great first run! We have had a great group of people stop by for help, learn at workshops, and participate in in-depth discussions about media and ethics. If you haven’t come by for one of our programs yet, there is still time! Click HERE to check out the blog post for a run-down of events and printable PDF calendar.
New E-Mail List: Meeting of the Minds
We are excited to premiere a brand new e-mail list to our members! This list be chock-full of new ideas just waiting for a partner-in-crime to create with! We aim to connect ideas, producers, crew, and talent together in our own network of inspiration with ideas from our members! Keep an eye on this list to see what your community members need help with and submit your own ideas to build your network. If you elect to sign up for these newsletters, we promise not to flood your inbox! This list will be sent out a maximum of once per week on Thursday afternoons. If there’s nothing new that week, we will wait until the week after to send you the newest collection of thoughts. To submit your idea or need, email Katy@norfolkcable.com with what you’re looking for, why, and your preferred method(s) of contact (phone, e-mail, or through NCTV).
To sign up for this list, scroll to the bottom of this e-mail and click "update subscription preferences". The first edition is scheduled to go out this Thursday! Don’t miss out!

New Shows
With the summer coming to a close, NCTV is looking forward to a fall filled with exciting programming and fun autumnal events! While you’re adorning yourself with a fall jacket waiting for your pumpkin spice latte to cool, imbibe some “strong stuff presented by sound and sage fellows” Bill Crane and Duane Weiss on a new Bill Crane Report. Stay up on the latest Norfolk Senior Center news and events with Richard Connors and Norma Shruhan in the September edition of Silver Set Gazette. Join fellow night owls to check out our newest series Norfolk Late Nite, produced and hosted by Steven Olaska.
Take A Walk in the Garden with Liz Davey as she takes some cuttings in the herb garden in preparation for winter, plants some flowers to add color to the perennial garden, collects poppy seeds, cleans and preps garlic for use, and puts together a delicious yellow tomato salsa along with a margherita pizza with fresh basil. Grab the nearest weapon and fight zombies with Chris Labonte in his new short horror film Tree Of Decay, then become spellbound by the intrigue of his short noir film Sweetheart Assassin. Lastly, prepare for an onslaught of public service announcements informing you of the variety of local non-profit and government organizations and services available to you!

Programming Shenanigans
with Andrew Barker
It’s September so in the television world that means it’s time for premieres. Norfolk Late Nite, Silver Set Gazette, The Bill Crane Sports Report, The Bill Crane Report, and A Walk in the Garden with Liz Davey have already had or are set to have their “season premieres.” We hope you’re keeping up with all that these shows have to offer.
In addition to the great shows coming out of Norfolk, I have also found some other programs from other public access station. Like I’ve mentioned in the past, all the school assemblies and concerts from last year are now slightly out of date, so I felt it was important to really start looking for some quality programming to fill the gaps. I’ve got some painting shows, poetry shows, and variety shows on their way to our public channel (Verizon ch. 41 and Comcast ch. 8). And maybe for October we’ll have some Penny Dreadful’s Shilling Shockers on our channel to… well… shock you! Stay tuned!
Peace. Love. Programming Shenanigans.

We took a hard look at the user interface of our blog and decided to spruce it up a little! We will work on updating our category tags but in the meantime, take a buzz through and let us know what you think! Hopefully this will make it easier for everyone to go back and look up something you wanted to know more about.
